Some people aren't rich enough to purchase an Xbox 360 and at least one new game.
Or Halo 2 is better.
if halo 2 is better, then wouldn't there be more people playing it?
and no, Halo 3 has more people playing it now than halo 2 ever did...Posted by: Achronos
At the risk of interjecting sanity (and it IS okay if you prefer Halo 2, to each their own):
Halo 3's online stats are WAY higher than peak Halo 2 stats ever were. And considering Halo 2 didn't peak until after its first new maps were released,
Every game drops off after its initial release - lots of people buy a game, play the hell out of it, then sell it back for store credit. That's just how it is. Besides, there are a lot of really awesome games coming out this holiday, and there are only so many hours in the day. I take that as a sign of a healthly platform that will support Halo 3 for a long time, rather than anything to worry about.
But even after that drop-off, Halo 3 is still doing much better than Halo 2 ever did. And we haven't even gotten new DLC for it yet, nor have the playlists really matured yet. We're just getting started. :)
Which game is better is as everyone knows, opinionated. So why bother?
I will say however, that your logic is a bit flawed. Some of the great games (SMB, OoT, Goldeneye) couldn't touch the numbers that most games put out nowadays reach.
Gaming is a growing thing. Comparing numbers with games made years apart can be inaccurate.
