I have seen the ODSTs on pictures. I've heard that they are better marines, but still where are they from? What's there function and can we command them? Where can i find info about them coz in the H2 FAQ I can't see a -blam!- about them!
Please help!

They are stronger than marines but weaker than spartans. You see them in the halo2 e3 2003 trailer. Basically, they're just better allies for you

hmm...lets use analogies
In Halo
Marine is to ODST
As in real-life
Marine is to say Delta Force

ODST's are just better trained, smarter and just plain more bad ass then marines but are not genetically/cybernetically enhanced like Spartans.

THats not entirly accurate.

More like, Marines are to ODSTs
as in real life, Army is to Marines.

THey are the first ones in, to take control of an area to make it safe to send in reinforcments.

In the books they serve in the same branch guys. ODSTs can be considered more like a special ops group.

umm ok in case you don't know . . . Delta Force is in the same branch as the Marines . . . they ARE a special ops group smart one. Kind of like the Army has the Rangers! duh!

Yes if you get all caught up in the books and back-story theyre are the same marines and ODST's but in gameplay, which when you look at it is all that really matters, they are supposed to be smarter then the marines and better to play alongside. So theres how the analogy works.

Omg, my point is, according to the books, they play the same role of Marines in real life. Geeze, is it really that hard of logic?

My point is that in gameplay they dont get killed as easily such as the Delta Force in real life, so think of them as better marines. Why use the books, they wont matter when you start playing the campaign. The books just offer more frivolous detail into little facts and facets of the halo 'universe'.

Yes, but one interesting thing they say in the books is the tremendous rivalry the ODST's have with spartans. Ok its really not a rivalry so much as it is the ODST's hating the Spartans more than anything because they were genetically altered and arent 'natural'. Therefore they dont seem them as being as good as ODST's, granted a Spartan would (and does in the books :) ) easily whoop an ODSTs ass

Thanx for the info, guys, but i just hate that i don't have the books. I live in Denmark and they are not possible to buy here. It's so stupid!!!

I agree that the ODST's are the Marines' special force
In real live it might be just as Force Recon, SEALs, Airborne Rangers or Delta Force

4 or 5 HellJumpers are just as powerful as one Spartan...
Unlike hundreds of regular marines versus one spartan...
