This is stupid.
What is the point of forge if you can't search for these kind of gametypes.
Yeah, I have read through the other forums looking for alternatives, but those user made websites to organize custom games suck. Why they didn't include a custom game search function is beyond me. I would happily pay 10 dollars for a custom game search to be included, but we all know they won't do that - it would make too much sense.
Thanks for the soccer ball. woo hoo.
Manicure your Friends List to only those people willing to play custom Halo 3 games and are on the same time as you. I haven't succeeded in accomplishing that yet. But the last week or so I've started actively managing my Friends List. Basically booting off my actual friends in favor of folks that want to play Halo 3 customs at the same time as me. Like I said, it's a work in progress, hasn't really payed off yet, but that's my plan. I'll considering it a success the day I log in to find 100 players playing Halo 3 customs games. So, you can do that right now.
Looking forward, I can't imagine why Bungie wouldn't one day have a playlist of some of the funnest user forged maps and games. But, if/when that does happen. I hope that after you and your mates play a game from that list the very next thing you do is download the map and game and start tailoring them to your preference together.
Halo 3 Forge is really an awesome thing in my opinion. My fondest game memories were trading user created maps for the original Doom. I don't think until Forge anything has matched the original Doom in a) ease of use to create new maps and b) breadth of players to enjoy them with in a competitive fun game.
Halo 3 Forge. That's it. That's where it is at. Halo 2 was all about the matchmaking and people BXR-ing instead of enjoying the damn game. Halo 3, my opinion, will be remembered for the Forge and the collaborative, community fun Forge brings back to gaming. Nothing against MLG type gaming, except it's not my thing. This Forge is totally my thing. I love it.
I have tried doing that also - doesn't work out.
I just don't understand why they couldn't make a search function for forged games. Something as simple as the player match function they have in Gears. I agree that forge is awesome. I have made some fun variations of maps myself. The tragedy is that they will never get played. I know I'm just repeating what I said earlier, so I'll stop (for now). I just think that it is a valid argument.
Forge = The Great Tragedy
