I think a gravity gun would be sweet! I think it would the Gravity Rifle would grap onto an object and not let go, until you let go of the trigger. It would have limited range and you can still shoot if the Gravity Rifle has locked on to you. You could lift an enemy up in the air then slam him into a wall or something! Or grab the flag and run away with it! NO! Even better grab a rock and smash grunts with it!!!!!

No. I saw this used in Half Life 2 and I've played it a bit with the new Psi-Ops game. It's just not Halo. Worse, there's a lot of instant death you can pull off with that. Just think "Boarding Action" as a level.

At the very best, this is the type of technology that the Prophets would keep entirely to themselves, housing it in their chairs and making them look like gods.

If included I'd like that to be an optional weapon for multiplayer since I'd not likely want to see it used.

that kinda rips off half life 2 if you ask me.... maybe like a grappeling hook or a tow rope in the warthog so you can like wrangle banshees and -blam!- them up... the grappeling hook would be fired from the pasanger seat of the hog. now thats a cool idea lol.

Speaking of the hog grappling hook. Look on the front of the hog you can see a hook.Maybe you can grab the hook, then you walk up to a rock or tree and you melee it into the object. Then you could reel yourself off cliffs, or up them !
BTW, i've never played Half life, and btw the idea for a gravity rifle is not mine, see http://library.psyjnir.net/?id=75

A recent skirmish with Covenant troops leads to the belief that they may also have a weapon based on this gravitational technology, a sort of "gravity rifle". It is unknown what this weapon's capabilities are, or even if it truly exists.

I just expaned the idea.

Well if you didnt know it was in half-life then I guess you must be quite clever as the halflife G-gun looks brilliant.

Oh and about the "Grappel Hook" idea. That was in halo one originally...What it did was you launch it at the opponant and it explodes the opponant after attaching (im not lying it was first-hand news from bungie in a magazine interview). They dropped it because it was far fetched. I guess it lives on in the needler and plasma grenade though :D

Now... this is a bit more Halo.

MX-3 Grapple/Rapple Gun

Assigned to Spartans and ODST's performing special assignments the MX-3 is used to access areas and engage enemies where they least expect it. Physically the device resembles an overlarge pistol with an extendable stock and can sometimes be mistaken for a single shot grenade launcher at first glance.

The gun fires an advanced alloy piton with extreme velocity, trailing a cord created using carbon nano-tubes. Once imbedded in rock or metal, three prongs drill backwards, mooring the piton to sufficiently support the weight of a half ton Spartan. Once imbedded the person using the piton can wind in the cord, ascending, by pressing the "in the right thumbstick". He can unreel, lowering himself, by pressing the "Left thumbstick". While suspended in the air he can look freely by using the right thumbstick as normal and can shift his weight, allowing him to swing with the left thumbstick. Other options include jumping off of a surface for faster downwards movement and greater swinging arc and cutting the cord by pressing the "Y button" once.

Unfortunately, using the MX-3 counts as a single handed weapon. Thus, only one other single handed weapon can be used at the same time as the MX-3. (For two reasons, one... holding a two handed weapon is kind of silly, and two- we need the Y button to cut the cord)

Another use for the Grappling gun might be to snatch far away weapons out from under the nose of your enemies and snag them for yourself.

This would be an amazing OPTIONAL weapon allowing an entirely new dimension to multiplay. It is also the Sniper's dream, allowing him to reach sniper's perches in the most inobvious of places.

You might be able to do that in halo2 although its just a rumour.

I think a good idea for a weapon would be a....GLASS launcher. It would fire flachettes of glass and dice up those grunty targets real nice! A bit on the gory side though! I thought it would be cool kind of like the Flak Cannon for unreal championship I guess...

I'd like to have the grapling hook from the oldschool Quake 1's CTF... I loved that weapon so much, it did little to no damage (unless you switched weapons (axe) and beat them with both). But it was fun going from place to place on the hook, like you were tarzan...

Its also in halff-life two. A beam weapon where you can pick up individual parts of an object and fling them around and theres another mgnetictype weapon where you can pull objects like (radiator/barrel in the demo run) and first keep itr in place as a shield and then launch it at your opponants. Half-life 2 is definately going to be a major rival for halo 2. Although halos more about frag festing fun with a slight less hint of strategy.

I made them up myself. I was grooming myself to become a game designer at first before I realized that I didn't have a prayer of affording the schooling. At best I'd be a bank programmer and I hated that idea. I'd rather work a McDonalds my entire life.

I also would like to see a Halo variant of the M-79(?) grenade launcher. That's the grenade launcher they used in the begining of Vietnam war that looks like a sawed off shotgun and was a single shot breech loader. That would make a great one handed weapon for a dual wield in combination with an SMG. Far weaker then a rocket and weaker then a grenade a direct hit wouldn't kill you instantly but it would hurt a ton.

Insta-Flame! I post a remote idea and -blam!- insta-flame! As for the telekinesis, the gravity rifle would be a logical idea for the covenant since they already have anti-grav technology.
( this is not pointed at most of you, just some.....you know who you are....)
BTW Draerden your ideas are pretty good.
