uhm I remember 343 saying something about an last outbreak, meaning an outbreak before the one that happend when MC was there. I'm not sure bu I think he says that was the last time he has seen fore(or four)runners. so I geuss that it leaves us with two possebilities. 1. they fired halo and died 2. they contained them and fled (or died what you like). But no way that MC is desended fom them :)

I'm not sure if this has been said before, because I haven't read all 38 pages, I think it is now, BUT... Perhaps the answer is simple. 343 has been there 101, 000+ years. That seems like enough time for an entire galaxy to fall and rebuild. Perhaps the Flood finally did what they were "made" to do. Eat everything/everyone. That's why there's only architecture of the Forerunners to be found. Maybe they are to the Halo human race as Atlantis was to us? Thoughts?

Wouldn't it make more sense if the Forerunners were consumed by The Flood? It would explain their no-show. And of course they knew about The Flood before hand, so they built Halo as a safe guard, which aparantly worked. Just a thought... but if you think about it, the explosion that destroyed Halo was in no way to the power of Halo's supposed blast radius. It is therefore possible that The Flood are just drifting through space, waiting for their next victim.

Also, if the Forerunners are some form of humans, then the Covenant would be in a pickle. It seems as though the gods that they oh so love are Forerunner. So, IF Forerunners are humans, it could cause major rifts in the Covenant ranks.

Or, I could just be talking out of my...

What if the Flood are the Forerunners? What if the Prorhets infected the Forerunners with the Flood virus or what ever u want to call it, took the technology, and left? I mean, did you guys ever think about that?

Forerunners being the flood wouldnt make sense. The Forerunners built these fortress worlds like Halo all throughout the galaxy to help study and contain the flood, how could they have created such structures that were made specifically for containing the flood...if the flood virus showed up out of nowhere. The flood have already been established as a parasitic life form, nothing else.

how bout this.... in future, after the halo ring exploded, some humans survived. these humans have been tampering with genetics and re-created a race.(the covenent)... the humans treated them like test studies. then the covenent broke free destroying the humans. then the last remaining forces sent people back in time to destroy them..... then they stumble across halo and yadayadayada with the flood???? that sounds soo stoopid... wat am i high on??

plz think outside the circle of ( the humans are the forerunners and covenent using forerunner inteligence and stuff)..... try to imagine lots of other possibilities.. coz i have read quite allot of this topic and its all about the same thing..

the forerunners are quite alive and they arent flood:

"Whoever buil these installations must now lie in chains, that is the only explanation for their absence."

Hey may i remind you that not every thing in Halo is big (AOTCR inside Halo) there were several small corridors underground where it seemed like chief could barely squeze through. It's possiable that the Forerunners actually just didn't want it to look as cramped outside. Thus every thing being soo big. As for Cortana knowing everything I'm at a loss I guess we'll have to wait for Halo 2

Hang On...Didnt cortana and 343 guilty spark (that midget, stuck up, floating, purple robot thing that sounds like C3P0 from star wars) refer to halo as being built by THE forerunner, not the forerunners, like the forerunner was some supreme being from the universe's birth (god perhaps?) But this would maybe explain why no one has met any forerunners and why theres no organic life on halo (but i swear somewhere on the silent cartographer you can hear birds chirping), but the forerunner has just left that annoying floating robot 343 Guilty Spark (What were u guys at bungie smoking when you came up with that name?) hanging around to look after the Halo instilation for him/her/it.... But if the forerunner was one all out supreme being, dont you think that he would come down and stop the bloodshed between the covies and us humans, hmmm, i guess that if he did halo would be a pretty dull game.....but then again it could be the forerunners and i have just misheard it due to my crappy television speakers, and also i havnt had the chance to read any of the books that accompany this legendary game.

Yeah, 343GS said MC should upgrade to a MK12 armour. I think MC has mark 4 or 5 armour at the moment. If mark 4 armours this good, what would MK12 be like

It was made clear by 343 Guilty Spark that Halo destroys the Flood's "Food". Meaning anything edible, or inhabitable. This would mean that the Forerunner have no respect for humanity, or Covenant, due to the fact thet they would have created a device to activly destroy the flood rather than starve or anniahlate thier food supply. Perhaps they had higher reasons, but in all honesty, they don't sound very friendly to Human or Covenant beings. Basicly, listening to 343 in the library level, the Flood can activly assimilate any life-form. This brings me to believe that not just Humanity and the Covenant have a problem with Flood, but anything breathing. Think of the flood much like the Zerg fom Starcraft, if I may use that illustration. They attack a planet. Assimilate it until all life is Flood-type in some area, and then move on, minlessly taking every planet they can. Not to mention the fact that they can pilot aircraft and vehicles (Which is why they were repairing the T&R), so troop and infection transport wouldn't be a problem for them. They don't stop until something stops them, or they have EVERYTHING. If the Forerunner returned, tey'd clean house on everybody. The Humans, Covenant, and Flood. Evidently, they did once already, which would explain the Halo Containment Facilities for the Flood. Also, numerous implications in "First Strike" lead to the fact that the forerunner had things placed maticulously on planets for some reason or the other. But why badger the man who started this post with gripes and rudeness? He just asked a simple question. And the dude who Called POA the T&R? Lay off of him! A person with a honest question is honorable. If you can't be nice or helpful to them, don't reply to these posts. If you're trying to swing your "intelligence" around to "impress" people hoping that they'll join your chapter because you're so "All-Knowing" you're dead wrong. In thier eyes, you're a jerk. That goes for the eyes of people like myself who have been on the colum for two years, and have been answering these types of questions to the best of our abilities to Help, not insult people's intelligence or confidence in themselves. Let's be men about this and stop the rudness. If you're gonna post replies, be mature, not childish.

Look. I don't know anything about Forerunner existion, but I know that humans are Forerunners, because 343 Guilty Spark, at the Maw, when he was collecting the blue data balls he said "It's nice to collect our lost history", or something like that, and he made clear that humans are Forerunners actually. The Forerunners left Halo and went to Earth and for some strange reasons, they lost their intelligence and they started over again.

first of all: I gues the new armour will effect gameplay, cuss it was one off the first things to be said about halo 2. MC will get new armour. it will probably make you a littel bit faster stronger and thougher or something, in first strike some of the new parts are already in use by the other spartans remember. so expect beter radar ans stuff.

the there's the -blam!- with the forerunner. The call them forerunner cus its probaby not the name of the race. cortana knew a lot about them but no more. remember docter who created the spartans II. well in first strike she ereased a lot of knowledge from cortana (2 reasons, better not let her know it and she became slow from the wealth of info). but the good docter probabley will studie it and report back with new intel (and kelly offcourse :P).
so when she returns we probably learn the new stuff. untill then we can only guess (and no we can not be sure)

as for life on halo, its there but would require to much from the game (if you louk at the e3 2000 trailer you'll see animals walking the ring, but it's hard to get that trailer, maybe if we look nice at the fooks working there in the Bungie office :P). and yes you heard birds. :)
