What if the forrunners is like the xel'naga in starcraft lore. For those who don't know, the xel'naga created the zerg and the protoss, the protoss first. They watched the protoss to see how they managed them selves, and one day they descended down to aiur (protoss homeworld) to get more invovled in protoss society, but the eventually the protoss got pissed and almost killed all the xel'naga. Then the xel'naga took off to create a race that didn't hink so much so that it would be easier to controll, the zerg. But then the zerg got their overmind, and it controlled the zerg so that they killed the xel'naga.

Now, what if the covies are like the protoss? the forrunners created them, but wasn't happy with the results and they started fighting. The forrunners took off and created the flood.
I'm sure all of you agree that the flood is not intelligent, but it can still attack, and inthe level keyes, cortana says that the covenat are terrified that the flood will repair the ship and flee halo. But i think it's pretty clear you need some kind of intelligence to repair things. Cortana also says at some point that the flood nedd sentient (intelligent) life to survive.
what if the flood also have got an "overmind", which absorbs the knowledge of waht the flood eats, and uses it to survive and stuff

Now i forgot the rest of what i was going to write, but something like the above

I'd say the flood are capable of some kind of intelligence, they were going to use Captain Keyes to pilot the Covenant ship off Halo. Just like in Starship Troopers how there were "brain bugs" there would have to be brain flood if they were going to repair the ship. Or maybe the floods design is such that it uses whatever infected in a way to best serve their needs: Captain Keyes brain for its knowledge and skills as opposed to the marines and covenants fighting ability. That is if the flood were indeed created anyway. Which is probably likely as a desease could not evolve to such a level of complexity.

In the Library 343 guilty spark says "it's parasitic nature belies the flood's intelligence". So the flood aren't stupid, just really ugly. And on the topic of the armor/weapons from before, 343 calls the MC's armor a class 12 combat skin, but also comments on how inefficient the human weapons are against the flood.

you know you said about 343 GS trying to get the chip with the index so he could activate Halo? why do you think he's called 343 GUILTLY SPARK? there is more than one Halo ring because the monitor said so himself : "Greeting, I am the monitor of installation 04". so there is definately more going in the background* than Bungie lets on.

*Oh, plus the monitor has made someone else activate Halo before and he mistakes MC for this person, which is why the monitor calls MC 'Reclaimer'

That's exactly what I was going to post. There's theories of just about everything in there. Each link on the left hand column of that page includes numerous entries of theories and speculation that corresponds to that topic, so in other words, if you guys haven't read this stuff, you've got a long way to go.

I havn't read it all but from what i gather people think (the best argument there) the forerunner are human because MC is heralded as the 'Reclaimer' when guilty spark talks to him, so the very short of the story is that MC is human, called 'Reclaimer' by GS who mistakes him for reclaimer of the lost tech of the human race. Its like the story of a book that bungie apparently have taken other things from, i forget the name.

It's pretty neat that the Monitor called Masterchief "Reclaimer" because at the end of the third Halo book,"First Strike," the Prophets or somebody mentions that it's the 9th Age of Reclamation. Very interesting.

That reminds me, on the making of halo 2 film they say something about a battle 9 million/billion years ago, maybe when halo went off last time hence ninth age of reclimation. and GS says something like 'last time you asked me...' MC never asked him anything so the last guy must have looked similar to MC (human).

to mess my argument up a bit, surely the last guy to activate halo died in the blast but then why would GS think you where the same guy ('last time you asked me...' GS says something like that) if everyone dies in the blast. unless the person who carries it out is protected, but that seems pretty pointless as he's just devoid the galaxy of live so he's gonna be alone for a long time.

Well it was 900,000 years ago but you got the idea. I hope Halo 2 has many a revelation in it. I'm very excited about the story. Oh and also, if you guys read about that new Multiplayer map, "Waterworks, the Game Informer mag mentions that there's an ancient underground Forerunner facility in it and it takes place on Earth. Though they could be assuming that it takes place on Earth.

If humans were forerunners why would 343 want to destroy them. Futhermore, If they were then they were building structures to obvisiously hide from opposing forces. Why would they thousands of years ago, have the capibilities that
humans have now to make it off halo? Even if they survived human or covenant, they couldn't have made it off Halo.
