Another shameless plug to get votes for Halo 2 in an online poll? Yup! Though some may argue our winning streak hit its peak with the coveted Spike TV awards, it's these reader's choice scenarios that mean the most to us. Tear away the glitz and glam and politics and it's just fans voting for what they liked the most. And that makes us warm and fuzzy all over (in an entirely different way than the Webmasters homebrewed egg nog).

Thanks to all our fans for your ongoing support and a kick ass 2004. Have a great holiday!

Maybe if;
A) cheaters were taken care of more swiftly,
B) a patch was released to fix the glitches,
C) Playlists were updated more often,
D) All the bugs with Halo 2 and XBL were worked out....

...then Bungie and Halo 2 might deserve an award. Until then, I refuse to vote for anything. Plug away all you want... if your customer's aren't happy with your product, it's not going to "sell"

I'm sure they're working as hard as they can to fix everything. Your not the one doing anything, so you have no right to complain. I think its an awesome game, keep up the good work.

I am doing something... playing a game I payed $55 for on a service I payed another $50 for on an xbox that I paid...... and on and on.

Maybe you just aren't that good and don't play against cheaters that often. If you haven't noticed, it's not hard for cheaters to rank up really fast. You must still be stuck at the bottom with all the noobs. Ah yes, level 12. When you get up to 20+, then you will know what it is like to play against cheaters EVERY THIRD GAME. It's half and half up here. Half of the people cheat, and the other half don't. The problem is, the non-cheaters don't play skirmish anymore becuase it is littered with cheaters. If you don't recognize that as a problem, I feel sorry for you in life.

I do have the right to complain, as do you have the right to incorrectly tell me I have no right. You are entitled to your opinion, as am I.

Give me an online fps game without cheaters, bugs, and glitches, and I'll ask you what you are smoking. Bottom line- there is always going to be glitches, cheaters, etc. Expecting perfection from any game, even from halo 2, is pointless. It's never going to happen. This vote is about what game you most enjoyed, and my vote is going to Halo 2.

Sorry Sketch and everyone at Bungie. Can't vote for this game with all the bugs that somehow made it through testing. Of course we can't expect any game to be perfect and bug-free, but I'm in shock at how much made it through testing. With another week or two of testing with a REAL testing crew this could have been game of the year, but as it stands now, I just can't vote for it.

Same here except I think the game is great except the story, the story is good enough, but after being told over and over again how good the story would be, I was hoping for something like in First Strike, I had been one of those people that went to this website like 20 times a day, read every HBO article every day, bought all the bungie stuff, was around when the forums still had post counters, and the highlight of my week was friday when the weekly update came out. I ove multi player, I think its the best multi player ever, but the story just destroyed me, I just wish Jason could of had some help with Eric Nylund on campain.

Is it my fault I don't spend all day playing xbox live? Maybe i'd be level 20 then. Every game has cheaters, they'll be dealt with.

I have to agree with both here... I am also one of these people who have read the books and followed the ILB storyline, and I must stay that Halo 2 was seriously below the bar when it came to its storyline, It felt rather hollowed out...
And the bugs... the main one is the graphical slow down one, which ruins a lot of the parts of the story that would have been good... One thing to say: Pre-Render.
And on the multiplayer side, most of what I hear about it is the major problem is has with cheaters and exploits. Also, Bungie did say a while back that they were working on multiplayer so that people without Live and access to a good LAN gathering would still enjoy it with just two controllers... I'm one of these people... I got skrewed big time!

One more piece of advice... If you can't fit fit Halo 3 on one DVD... Put It On Two!

I agree - it does deserve a reward. In fact, I voted for Halo 2 for best multiplayer game. I would LOVE to vote for it for game of the year, but the bugs that got through testing are so blatant that I can't in good conscience give Halo 2 my Game of the Year vote over an all-around polished game like Half Life 2. Want an example of a blatant bug? On the Beaver Creek map, in the back of each base near the right side (if you are facing the rear of the base) you can pick up a weapon through the wall. While I personally think it's inexcusable that the "pass the flag through solid walls glitch" got through testing, I know a lot of people use the argument that you can't catch every bug in testing. True - as a programmer I couldn't agree more with that statement. You are, as professional develepors, supposed to catch the obvious bugs before release however. While you might make the lame-ass excuse that nobody ever thought of trying to pass the flag through a solid wall during your "year of playing the game every night", I find it impossible to believe that nobody ever stood at the rear of the base in Beaver Creek and noticed that you could pick up weapons through a solid wall. I noticed that within the first 2 minutes of play on that map without even trying - and as soon as I saw that the walls were "thin enough" to grab weapons through, my next thought was "What else can we do with these thin walls?" Bugs like the gate on Zanzibar being open on some players' screens while closed on others are forgivable - they are most certainly caused by lag and happen so few and far between that we can excuse that as an unforseeable glitch that unfortunately was missed in testing. Throwing flags through solid walls is a flaw that affects the fundamental gameplay and should have been discovered so easily during testing that there is no excuse for missing it IMO. Sorry Bungie. *THIS* close to having my Game of the Year vote. The main reason you didn't get my vote despite the bugs is that I have seen you do better games in the past and honestly think that the bar was lowered for Halo 2 due to time constraints. An extra couple of weeks of testing and tweaking may have made all the difference...

Yeah I would give Halo 2 best multiplayer and best xbox game. I didn't like the single player campaign that much though. I think Half Life 2 is the best shooter and should win Game of the Year. Halo 2 is still a great game though.
