The enemy of my enemy shall die next.

I know the voices in my head are not real, but they have some great ideas.

Brown chicken Brown cow!

Only thing I can suggest would be running a network check on your 360, see what the NAT settings and other things come out like. Hopefully it will be a simple matter of changing your NAT from Restricted to open.

Other than that it seems like a problem with you provider.

Sorry I cant be more help but there are other more useful people on here that should be able to shed more light on the problem.

Well, I don't think it is something wrong with my NAT because when I run the connection test, it comes up fine for everything. It is just Halo 3 that is messed up.

Now I think something may be wrong with my router. My dad had just told me to test to see if I could get onto Halo 3 (Which I couldn't). But when I tried the first time, my NAT came up as strict. So, I rebooted my xbox 360, and the second time I tested the connection, the NAT came up as open. I am so confused as to what is going on with my technology that I have no clue how to use, that I am thinking of just canceling my service. I have literally spent the entire weekend trying to fix this. Have spent at least 10 hours on the phone with 'customer supporrt' over in india, and nothing is working!!!!

I think it's a firewall problem. What you need to do is called Port Forwarding. This allows whatever device you wish to connect straight to the internet without restriction. While this could cause a problem if it was done for a PC, with an Xbox 360, it's safe.

Just follow the instructions here.

Portforwarding is one of the easiest ways to boost your connection stability.

Also, if your router has a setting for a "Game Mode", enable this.

What is is your router model, version, and firmware?

The reason I ask is because I have a WRT54G v3 running DD-WRT v23 SP3 and I have the exact same problem whenever I flash DD-WRT v24. Everything else works fine and the Xbox reports an open NAT at the test connection screen (sometimes Halo 3 will tell me I have a strict NAT; very rarely though) and I always either never make a connection to the other players or there is unbearable lag, usually involving me being in the black screen for about half the match.

Well, I recently got xbox live, approximately 3 days ago, and ever since I got it, I have had problems with my connection with Halo 3. Now, I have looked around on the xbox site, I have called the customer support 3 times, and even called my internet provider twice, and yet I still have no solution to my problem.

The thing that is happening to me is that whenever I go onto xbox live, especially with halo 3, I lose my connection to xbox live as the game is starting. I am able to join the party after finding players for a match, but as it goes to the screen saying "Starting Game..." 95% of the time, I lose my connection.

I have spent so much time and effort trying to fix this problem, and still have no answer to my problem on how to fix it. I have come to the community for some possible insight, hoping that some xbox live user has experienced such a problem themselves. I have heard from other people that an update that recently occurred may be the cause for this problem, but I am unsure as of the moment. If you guys can post your ideas or valid solutions to my issue, please post.

Thank you,
Dooser212

i am having this exact same proplem and i am just as stressed out about it because my connection was fine before i switced to verizon. once i made the switch i had a moderate nat but i was still able to play matchmade games just not with my friends. once i attempted to change this by contacting verizon it made it so that the nat says open but right as the game is about to start it changes the map twice and then sends me back to the matchmaking menu as if i quit the game...i dont know what i did to make this happen but right now id be happy to restore the original settings, if anyone can help, ayone at all please post it because port forwarding or UPnP or DMZ hosting or ne of that stuff has no effect on this problem
