Here you go. Achronos noted that the entirety of the forums only takes up about 5 or 6 gigs. The stats database is much larger, but as a whole, BNet is surprisingly small, isn't it?

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Heh, this reminnds me of that update of old when Frank spoke of someone who had partitioned the entire server storage databank into a single drive on a network. I think it was something near 100 terabytes, if not more.

6 GB is small? For a website? No. That's huge!

And yes, that's NOT including the stats and user uploaded screenshots/gametypes. Terrabyes, there. :D

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

When I stumbled onto Sawnose's profile on earthlink, his motto was something like "I deal with 20 pertabytes of data a year". I don't know how much of that is the website, but I'm sure it the vast majority. A lot of it is purged though, so who knows how much data is in this network at any given time.

Achronos said bungie.net was 6 giga-bytes in early 2006. It is now nearly 2008. And the community has 1million members.
Would the new amount be much larger ?

Petabytes*, not Pertabytes. >_>

But yeah. Huge.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

The forums themselves probably wouldn't be too much larger. If I had to guess, I'd say at most a couple of gigabytes. It sounds large, but really it wouldn't be all that much.

However, the fileshare and stats databases are so enormously huge that any growth in the forums size is negligable. It would be like counting the effects of a single .txt file on my 500 gig HDD. Sure it's technically there, but it would get rounded off in any sort of estimate.

Every new player has new files and stats. And considering that Achronos's estimate was before the release of halo 3 ?

That's exactly what I meant by the fileshare. The amount of new data that is actually being stored somewhere on b.net is absolutely massive. As littlerat said, they mentioned having 100 terabytes of storage for that.
