Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

hmm... this could be interesting, and I'm bored, so why not?
What do I know about the Community? That's actually an incredibly difficult question to answer, now that I try. In fact... I really don't think I can come up with a meaningful answer. Moving on to something easier...
My join date reminds me that I've been here since October 2005. That would be about the time I started becoming a true member of this community. I had an eariler account, and I'd lurked for even longer, but I never really moved past the "Halo fan" and into "Bungie fan and community member" until starting my second (and current) account. As for making an impact on the community... I've tried, especially in the past year, to do something to make myself useful around here. Unfortunately, I would have to say that, to date, I have essentially failed at that. So no, I don't think I've had much of an impact on this community, as far as B.net (or the public community as a whole) is concerned.
I was hanging around here before Halo 2 was launched, but at some point around launch time I lost my internet connection. So I wasn't really around for very long when it was new. I do remember though, that it was essentially the same. People posted the wrong things in the underground (although much more frequently), people complained about how Halo 2 sucked so much compared to Halo 1, Bungie has sold out for charging money for the maps... but mostly, just people going around talking about stuff that interested them. There did seem to be a lot more theorizing about the Halo universe back then though. It seems like the focus has shifted drastically since Halo 1 from storyline based ideas to almost exclusively multiplayer thoughts on Halo 3. Then again, maybe I'm just out of the loop these days.
And for you last question, well, I actually am going for a computer science major, hopefully aiming for a job in video games. And Bungie does seem like a really cool place to work, with the juvenile sense of humor, sense of unity, and overall dedication to making awesome games. But as far as actually hoping to work for them, well, we'll have to see how things work out in the next 4 or 5 years.
Edit: Holy flipping crap people. There were no replies when I started that saga. :|
