Heyyo,

Well, since HaloPC was (sadly) a little rushed, it is pretty high demanding and does lag... well, it's not really lag, but prediction errors. your comp thinks the warthog's spinning left fast, but the server says it's spinning slow... stuff like that.

I suggest this as minimum specs:

AMD Athlon XP 1200+ ( Or Intel P4 1.3GHz)
256MB PC2100 RAM
ATI Radeon 8500 (or Nvidia GF4 TI4200)

That'll run HaloPC pretty decently, now here's the minimum you could run HaloPC half-decently on:

AMD K6 600MHz (or Intel P3 700MHz)
64MB PC133 Ram
ATI Radeon 7000 (or Nvidia Geforce 2)

so yeah, for what you call 'lag' is just bad prediction (netcode's not accurate...), and those are my reccomendations for bare minimum sys specs.

What I run HaloPC on? check my sig. ;)

Is CE a lot better? I haven't taken the time to notice - if it is i will start playing it a lot more often.

Heyyo,

MUCH better, that fast shader makes specular lighting not so cpu-intensive, so it's more playable, but still....

Netcode's better, the rockets for the rocketwarthog are now MUCH more accurate, as in, where they appear on your screen is where they appear on the server instead of only sometimes. ;)

The Delagginator's a work of art. Warping is greatly reduced, and makes it like Halo for $box where you don't have to lead so horribly to compensate for latency. So now you people with pings of 200 can still stand somewhat of a chance. =D

Yeah but the problem is. People can use mods in CE can't they? Or can they be turned off in some games?

Peple can use mods in regular edition, too. You don't even need to have downloaded anything. Like in some bloodgulch mods, the pistol's bullet makes an explosion more powerful than the tanks...stuff like that.
