"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstien

Just so you know, Call of Duty is proof of nothing, since it has been the same rehashed formula for every game. Sure, it may be a great formula, but they are afraid to try anything new. The stuck with WWII for three games, then finally went to a different era while keeping all the same mechanics. They haven't really changed the experience save for what your eyes see. I love the game, don't get me wrong, but its not anything new.

Halo 3 on the other hand does some great new things (first game to allow you to edit and play at the same time), and there is alot you can do with it to make it a more enjoyable experience.

If i was the PO I would try renting the game before buying it and creating an account specifically to complain about a game you chose to buy.

There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

It looks like someone hasn't heard of caveat emptor! Which pretty much means you have little room to complain. You bought a video game based upon your expectations of said video game. How exactly do you feel that Bungie is responsible for *your* expectations? Why am I bothering trying to explain this to you when this thread will be locked shortly? That's the better question...

Why don't you just give me ONE SECOND!

You say this, yet you are a Major, have played 552 games, have a skill of 41, 226 EXP, a K/D ratio of 1.8, and have ALL the achievements.

Seriously. What am I missing?

Subject: Bungie.....after playing halo 3 for awhile...

Just realize that I am addressing BUNGIE right now.

i just have to say, that halo 3 has been a huge disappointment. Now, don't misunderstand my tone, I'm more sad than angry and I don't mean to be winy. As a paying customer I have to say that I feel like a sucker for buying halo 3. I realize that there's no such thing as a perfect game but halo 3 could have been so much more. Call of Duty 4 is proof of that. That game as well as Bioshock completely dwarf Halo 3 in almost every aspect. (COD4 undoubtedly). Now I won't go into the melee problem; it's already posted everywhere, but the game just isn't fun to play. (and I'm not terrible at it either so don't pull that card on me). The gameplay is slow-paced and not nearly as dynamic as halo 2. halo 2 was absolutely amazing in the multilayer. the game offers absolutely nothing new (accept equipment and a flamethrower which you can hardly ever find, which suck anyways). this game has absolutely no "Wow factor". COD4 had a huge wow factor to it. Absolutely amazing. The maps suck too. The "remake" of lockout has been utterly bastardized. Gosh the entire game has been bastardized from halo 2. the new pistol is like a fat kid trying to run up-hill. It just seemed like you guys didn't really care about including anything to make people piss their pants in excitement. I honestly feel like you guys (bungie) figured, "Hey, with advertising and false promises it doesn't matter how bad the game is, people will buy it anyways!" This game just seems completely half assed. I'm just totally disappointed and don't see much of a point in paying MORE money for more bad maps. And don't pull -blam!- on me like,"Well your not a Halo 3 expert so you don't know what your talking about" or anything like that. I am completely justified in writing this because I am a paying customer. I realize that there are many people that love this game. Good for them! I'm just sharing what I have seen as the majority feels about this game, which is that it is utterly disappointing.

Call of Duty is the same re-hashed game in a different box.

Halo 3 is something new based around the world of the previous games.

Guardian is not a remake. It is in the style of lockout (multi-teird, easy to move around)

I don't know what adverts you watched, but Halo 3 completely lived up to my expectations...

And the meele? I prefer this meele to the host-advantage crap in Halo 2. Now us Europeans are on (mostly) even footing with you guys.

i agree with some of your points actually.

I'm kind of exhausted of all of these threads though.

Halo 3 was a disappointment from what we all were led to believe Bungie was working on. Once all the mist had settled from the hype, we realized that all of their 'hints' and 'tidbits of info' were nothing more than little improvements on what they already had done.

I'm a HUGE fanboy, but that doesn't take away my judgment per-se. I saw through it, and I saw they had OVER thought some aspects. To say they only put in half-effort is a slight misnomer. They over-thought too many things (balance, machine load, lag, what worked before) because of their big M$ budget, and as a result we got a lukewarm product for the masses that us fanboys who post in the forum are somewhat disappointed with at times.

OMGZ amazing water! shouted Frankie... The water was okay (compared to real life)... and its not even featured too much in MP. While it is a step in the right direction, don't go around touting it like some amazing, beautiful thing, its just an improvement from what people have already been working on.

When you use sarcasm and ideological 3rd person arguments to critique a company, they will not respond. If you constantly SUGGEST ways of improving their product that you bought in ways that they have said they would LISTEN, then they actually might do those changes. So my suggestion to you is to continue to suggest ways of IMPROVING this product (Halo 3) and don't gripe and complain. Halo 3 is here to stay, lets try to get something out of it while its here.

cod4 is pretty unoriginal. You might think it's something new if you haven't played the others in the series. I like that though. I like Halo 3 because they kept the main elements that people liked from Halo 2 and CE. There are still a few things here and there that people don't like, but I think Halo 3 is better than Halo 2 in the first few months after release. This is great, because it's only going to get better from here on out.

Don't get me started on how over rated Bioshock is.

i didn't say it wasn't great. I said it still falls short of the benchmark (real life). Frankie had touted it like some amazing close-to-real-life thing. I still liked it, but dang, you have to agree with me that it still looked like video game water right? (i'm not trying to start crap, just opening a discussion)

psht. As if I care about how water looks in a shooter. Does it at least somewhat resemble water? yes. good enough for me. I care more about mechanics and game play, and Halo 3 is the best I've ever experienced on a console.

IMO the water in halo 3 looked better than the water in bioshock, so i'm happy with it.
Then again i never really read updates and podcasts until like two weeks before launch so i didn't get too hyped up about the game, which I like to be.
If you are hyped up about a game you will always, no matter how good the game is feel a little less impressed than a neutral person.

I care about a company following through with promises, not over-hyping their product, and delivering to what customers want and expect out of a AAA company.

I have to disagree.
You say COD4 is fast-paced, but you just spend lives quicker. I played it and I hate the fact it felt like I was only alive for 5 seconds at a time. In Halo 3 you dont die as quick but you are always doing something.
I think in all COD 4 was WAY more overhyped. People were constantly saying it was the end all of FPS and it was going to topple the Halo empire. It got amazing reviews but seriously, it came and was a knife in a gun fight.
I think they did a great job with the water. It looks amazing on Valhalla also, they have butterflies flying around in matchmaking. Totally unnecessary but that is why it is a step up. Do they do anything, No, then why have it? Cause that is realistic. Maps that you play in are trying to be realistic but all they are is carbon copy maps of a "War" setting. Halo 3 always has that extra something that I am sorry, cannot be found anywhere else.

You can pretty much replace the number 3 with 2, and the number 2 with 1, and it will still be something I've heard before. This has happened before and it will happen again. Changes get made between sequels, and not everyone likes them. I'm sure you think your opinion is absolute and objective but hey, so is all of ours right?

I'm saying that it is subjective, because I heard these exact same complaints 3 years ago, and if they make a halo 4 we'll hear them all over again from different people.

No one halo game hit on a magic formula which then never was reproduced. Each of the sequels met with criticism and some negative comparisons to it's predecessor. For me, I think the game offers plenty that is new, and has in some respects returned to the roots it should never have left.

Slow Paced? Only if your in the elephant playing by yourself. (like Barry)
Not as Dynamic? That's why they added several more weapons, new vehicles and equipment.
Remake of Lockout? They never said it was a remake, Bungie stated that it was 'the spiritual successor to Lockout'
New Pistol? Since when does a good player like your self use a pistol.
Half assed? 3 1/2 years in creation, and up to a semster of 'Crunch' time (Practically 4 hours sleep each night.
More Money? So what, COD4 will have that, at least maps have come out.
Majority? Check the Halo 3 players on right now. 26,000. And it is late. How many in the Last 24 hours? 849,000. The Majority of course. [sarcasm]

There thats that post taken apart.
