I ususally end up lying in bed for 2 or 3 hours, dozing for minutes at a time, than go into the living room, and tear everything apart.

Inject yourself with a gallon of gasoline and light yourself on fire. It always works. Oh, and driving a spike through your head will help.

My Mom used to tell me to do that, it never worked for me, I can only go to sleep in a hammock, on a boat, hearing crickets or Native American flute music stuff, and artificial light screws me over.

it really sucks

also try jogging a little 2 hours before you go to bed and not to sound like an ass but surfing the forums is not the easiest way to get to sleep

http://www.buddhanet.net

There is a lot of peace to be found in Buddhist teachings. That site maintains that Buddhism is merely a philosophy, so do not be worried if you think it is somehow contradictory to your religion.

Read that site for a while, and perhaps even practice some of the meditations. You can calm yourself - all it takes is the will.

Music. Soothing music like Black Sabbath, Atreyu, Pink Floyd, and of course, some Rammstein will always help. Or just don't sleep at all. When it's midnight, run downstairs and see if you have any presents. If not, Santa's slacking.

Meh... I find that readig a book in bed using only a nightlight puts you right to sleep. Seriously... I have a little switchy-light doohicky and whenever I am not sleepy, I just pull that thing out and fifteen minutes later I can barely stay awake long enough to turn the light out and lay it back on the table...
