PM from Equus Asinus: "Calling me a moron for somthing wich you have no part in is stupid. Maybe if you used proper grammer I would feel you as a threat. But, I think you owe me an apology."

Wow. People can't just enjoy it.

It's obviously meant as a deterrent for bad forum behavior.

Frankly, I've had my days of posting what I shouldn't have. I do honestly believe that the mystery of this new reward system will make some headway. Although, people will be people - some just don't care and would rather de-rank themselves anyways.

Enjoy it people. The fact that it exists is precursor to other extreme policing actions expected in the future.

So do we have a definitive answer yet? I will be observing this thread for more info as this is an interesting topic

No. and there is not one coming.

Giving out the specifics of how the system works is a surefire way to encourage petty people to exploit it.

This is most certainly true. I remember when Bungie started explaining MM and then before you knew it there was a thing called "Boosting".

My question is, who cares? I know you will think I am saying this because I am not Heroic, but I think people put too much honor on these "special" rankings, and less on what you have to do to achieve them. A man is known by their actions, not their title. - (In my imaginary universe where people actually care about what other people do more than just their title)

...how many people made accounts on the first day?
Uh, I'm a bit late to the party here (and most everyone is going to say "who the heck is this guy?"), but *raises hand*.

It looks like there are only a handful of us left from 11/15/01, but I know that when the B.net relaunch happened I registered pretty much as quickly as I could and my memberID was somewhere in the mid 100's. I think sometime around the Halo 2 launch they cleaned out all the inactive accounts, and I moved all the way down to 17.

Thinking of something witty to write here since 2004...

2005 = Heroic
2004 = Legendary?

Makes sense. I assume if you flash it around you'll get it removed, so don't do that.
That's really cool. I like this new button down there too.

Crow, you're such a youngin'!

Thanks to the Web Team. :)

No it's not that I joined in 04. It's probably something to do with total post count. And it probably wouldn't be contribution to the forums since it would take a while to look through every single member's message list.

As for dates... I think it's site update to site update... Before 04 update = Legendary, after = Heroic, some time after that = member.

I would doubt that. It's about how well you behave.

I have only been blacklisted once, for a week, and I make quality posts most of the time, as well as one that Achronos complimented himself. I had an old account that was from mid '04, but it got deleted while I was away at boot camp/combat training. I think it has a lot to do with time here. It's the most consistent factor in anyone's "rank."

  • 12.13.2007 6:09 AM PDT

Perhaps it works this way: The larger number of blacklists you have, applies more if they are over a shorter period of time. This means that if you have been here longer, a blacklist won't apply as much.

However, all that means is that they have been better behaved that members who have been blacklisted multiple times in a couple of months. Again, if it was only about date, I would probably be a heroic member. I know someone who joined a little less than a year ago, and he's a heroic. Therefore, it simply is your behavior.

My other question is whether or not repealed blacklists apply to the trust system. If they do apply, is it as much as a full black list?

Than I don't understand why I'm not a Heroic Member? I mean, it's not a big deal or anything, but I thought I made quality posts. I've only been blacklisted the one time, and my threads have good content, if it's not something regarding anything important, than it's really funny. But, perhaps I'm wrong. I guess I need to better my posts.

It's probably because you've been blacklisted over a small period of time.

Don't worry, you keep you act together, and you'll get there.

Time does have something to do with it, as evidenced by Mythic and Legendary members being long time members. Your account is still pretty new, so I would think that would be why you don't have a new title. The best I can figure, having a linked gamertag probably helps your trust rating also(which you do) as I've been here nearly three years and 1 warning is all I've had in the recent years and I'm still not Heroic. Post quality is doubtful as being a factor since the system is automated and it's generally hard for a computer to identify that sort of thing.

It's strange, but I'm not really concerned about it, however, I just think it has a lot to do with time on B.net over anything. I wish my old account hadn't gotten deleted, but oh well.

Time certainly seems to be a factor, but I don't think it's too heavily weighted. Like I said, I'm 7 days from the three year mark and received 1 warning days after the site update(Viva la Old Blue) and I'm not Heroic. There's a healthy amount of Heroics running around that have been here just a bit over a year. Unless Achronos or the mods have a "this guy is a douche" button they mash repeatedly after each time I post, I would've had some sort of title if time were the biggest factor.

Note: This is speculation.

Please, don't consider them as ranks, they are titles.
Just because someone is a Legendary member it does not necessarily mean he is better than you, it is just a title, nothing more.

It makes me wonder why Bungie even added that feature in. Yes it gives members something to strive for by being good, but it also creates elitism among users.

I mean, if it's just a title what's the point?

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

Come on now, a custom title is cool, guys. It is a sign of recognition for being good members who have stuck around and also an incentive to do so. For those worried about elitism, i still have yet to see anyone being 'elitist' using their title.
