Title means nothing to me. I would rather be infamous than have an automated sticker slapped on me.

I disagree with that. Sure, attention is still attention, but who's going to stick up for a person who only causes grief?

Beyond that, this "automated sticker" doesn't get you respect, as you might be suggesting. I'll still assess members based on what I've known them to do for others.
For me it just seems to reward the type of posters that I hate the most. The type of people who post only in the Septagon, make no threads of their own, and otherwise only contribute to a forum based on helping out the other forums; as opposed to actually posting and participating in the forums. I never expected a title based on my history, but the way it is handed out now I can only shake my head.

Remember, trust is calculated daily, and the maximum value possible changes every day too. Since the titles are based on the percentage your trust value is compared to the maximum value, it can easily change if the max value goes up further than you go up in the intervening time, even if you haven't had any negative items against you.

In other words, no the system isn't buggy, stop asking why your title changed, I'm not going to tell you.

2005 = Heroic
2004 = Legendary?

Makes sense. I assume if you flash it around you'll get it removed, so don't do that.
That's really cool. I like this new button down there too.

Crow, you're such a youngin'!

Thanks to the Web Team. :)

06 Heroic
05 Legendary
04 Mythic.

If only I had held onto my old account from 04...

Nope: That isn't it. My account is pre-Halo 2. Im only Heroic. Not that it actually matters.

02(?) Mythic.

That's about the closest approximation we've come up with. Approximation being the key bit.

Warnings and bans aren't necessarily permanent marks on your trust rating. Each one "lasts" a certain amount of time, and then it no longer affects the rating.

So, I'm guessing I should probably by a little more irked by GodsProphet's errant warning a few months back now, eh? Or the two bans I received very early in my stay on B.net. Phooie.

Oh well, my ego still has Legendary branded all over it.

Quick question: What about a permaban? How long would something like that last? You know....hypothetically....

Does the number of days banned effect how long it will stay?

Flame Sama's Portal. Home of the anti-emo teenage writer/gamer Flame Sama, stop by and read some time.

By the way, my gamertag is really 'Flame Sama'.

This account is inactive-it's a relic of a former time for Bungie.net, back when groups were riding high prior to the release Halo 3.

This is a pretty cool addition...

Im just wondering. Does number of posts count? I was just checking one of my friends, who joined a few months before me. Neither of us banned or warned (I think...) and he's legendary. I stress that this is idle curiosity on my part, not a burning desire to grind up a level. :P

I wonder it the mods have a "Increase trust" and "decrease trust" button...

I don't think that we could be trusted with such tools.

Joke intended.
Nice one, but that still doesn't answer my question...

I dont think the number of posts affect it a great deal, I dont post too often, Only if I feel the need to or if I think I have something to contribute,
Most likely to do more with time with Bungie.net, general behaviour, and spelling (ok just kiddin on the last one lol)

In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Yes it does. In general, the longer the ban, the more of an affect it has and assumably the longer it lasts.

Though as a side note, I'm pretty sure that the bans and warnings of old, those from roughly two site updates ago, don't count against you. I'm pretty sure those are long forgotten.

I feel that I should say that this kind of attitude isn't healthy. I thought similar feelings towards the Halo 3 forum before I realised I was bordering on paranoia.

But some of the individuals you describe, like myself, don't want all the attention that comes with having all of the Bungie.net forum scrutinize you. I like helping people, and I find the best, and safest, place to do that is here, in The Septagon, and in some private chapters. I don't dislike attention, but it's that attention that has gotten me in trouble in the past. Not everyone is here for the same reason, and I feel it's best to acknowledge that and move on with your own personal adgenda, whatever that may be.

It would be quite nice to view our trust ratings, to be honest. However, I'm sure that would cause a rash of people boasting about their higher rating, so I'm kinda in two minds. I just want something to assuage my curisosity. :)

I was also wondering why some of the grizzled old war veterans were branded with regular member titles.

I'll be on my own side.

Looks like that "karma system" that was discussed so very long ago is finally showing itself, in a way.

I don't think post count has anything to do with it, or if it does, it carries very little weight. I don't post too often, yet I've got Legendary status. Also, since this applies to every member, the system must be automated. How would an automated system check things like post content (if that's the case)?

I have a strange feeling "Grizzled", by your terminology, means "Blacklisted multiple times".

"But you were dead a thousand times. Hopeless encounters successfully won. A man long dead, grafted to machines your builders did not understand. You follow the path, fitting into an infinite pattern. Your to manipulate, destroy and rebuild. Now, in the quantum moment before closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny."

Interesting. :)
