How do I find out what my Title is?

It's seen right below your name, right to the left of a post of yours.

You're a member, but don't let that discourage you. Ranks, specificly the differences between them, shouldn't be used against people.

Could we please have a way to know where we stand on the "Trust Scale" other than the custom titles?

Both sides of that battle appeal to me.

While it's nice to see where I make mistakes and learn from them, having people take advantage of those things that give them the most Trust Rating boost certainly makes me shy away from this proposal.

Bungie Trust Stats Page

this is kind of what I was looking for, but more Achronos-y

Show you what you did wrong, what brought you down. You don't have to show the Plus points. just where you stand on the scale...leaning good..leaning bad.

1. I understand this, my point is that one of the main metrics is join date, which IMO isnt really fair.

2. No, but I do think foman and cryptic guardian should be trusted more than "HaveaglassofSTFU" and "haveashotofstfu" but thats just me personally.

3. I dont think this even dignifies a response.

Posted by: Achronos
1. Join date is one of the metrics used. But it is only one. There are lots of others that come into play. If you can't think of them, well, you're not looking hard enough.

2. So, you think you're more trusted than someone who hasn't been banned for having a duplicate account? Really, I've been looking at the trust numbers generated for a year. They turn out to be a VERY accurate rating... I thought it was going to be much harder to come up with the proper algorthim, but spammers are pretty predictable. This isn't something I just cooked up, it has been a long time coming.

3. It is reward for trust, something not easily found on a public forum. It is not a measure of quality or quantity. If you want to try and place other value on it than what it is measuring, that's your own problem. I'd rather given those deserving some positive reinforcement than worry about stupid cries of "elitism." Half of you think that having moderators is elitist, the other half think your skill at Halo measures your self worth as a person. So, I'm not really going to lose sleep because everyone doesn't get the nod - not everybody should.

#1 And I'm guessing the metrics, judging by your comment "but given that you can't boost this rating" it is based on join dates. The reason is simple, post count can be quickly raised by posting a lot, and there is no other type of content to be judged on, as quality of posting cannot be measured, nor can a karma system be implimented where positive karma is awarded, as there are no features for this, so by common sense, join dates are one of me major metrics.

#2 So this means everyone who, like myself, joined for halo 3 is going to get a massive shaft, for not being here sooner. That sucks

#3 So according to your own post, you made something which is a perk for spammers, but has little meaning, and something which myself and others feel will promote elitism. How is this a good thing again?

Life isn't fair, you don't always get what you want. Although, I'm not suggesting you got shafted. Time spent here should have a role in determining your title. It is often times a big indicator of your dedication to the site. If you desperately want a rank, you've gotten the wrong idea. This isn't some competition to see "who gets what rank."

I'm frankly sick and tired of the cries of elitism everyone also makes here. We've tried removing titles, removing join dates, banning the word noob, yet you people still create divisions like this anyway, be it on skill level in the game, using various words, grammar, etc. I've come to the conclusion that part of the problem around here is that there is no real incentive for people to behave well other than "you won't get banned."
That was extremely refreshing to read. The way in which so many here have tried to condemn loyalty to Bungie and a conscious effort to follow the rules as "elitism" is appalling. Sticking around, following the rules, delving into the lore of Bungie, and trying to make a quality contribution to the Seventh Column are not things for which people should be ridiculed.

Certainly he is. He just moves at odd angles faster than any man, so its hard to pinpoint his exact location.

A noble claim. I, also, would be interested what I could improve on; further promotion aside.

I see your point, Naku. but, though I do feel pity towards Foman, I'd rather not have Achronos change individual member status for the same reasons he doesn't allow for name changes in almost every case.
I agree with prometheus. The system, due to its objective nature, is brutally fair. Allow me to enlighten you why Bungie.net does not trust me.

In a two-week period back in late April/early May, I received two warnings (both for making Your Mom jokes -- one warning from Frankie and the other warning from a forum ninja) and a short blacklist (for whining about the Halo 3 F&F Beta).

Last week, I received a third warning from a forum ninja for writing "The First Amendment applies only to federal and state governments."

Nobody with three warnings and a blacklist within the past year should expect elevated status here. At least not under a purely objective system. I am no exception.

So thank you all for your comments. But I don't deserve elevated status, because I'm clearly untrustworthy.

Exactly, I'm not in it for the title.
In fact I always wondered what my post count was and how many times I have gotten in trouble.(I know, if i cant count how many times I have been in trouble its TOO many...)

EDIT: Can we finally put this to bed? Arguing about it wont help. Making Achronos angry REALLY wont help.
so I think its done. we can all get on with our lives and be happy/sad/angry/miserable or whatever.

No. Even the mods can't see it. Although for me, the raw number appears underneath the unleash ninjas button.

However, it is likely that more positive reinforcement will be tied to this rating eventually.

Bungie.net just needs some time, Foman. (bans/warnings stop affecting your trust rating after a while, unless you get new ones)

I joke..
So its going to be more based on "TGP said this user is being a helpful and productive member of the b.net community, give him a 10% boost"?

I suppose that a function that allowed us to see, say, how many times we have been warned/banned and for how long would be asking too much. Although, for me, that's easy to track. I'm pretty sure I've never had anything of the sort.

I'm starting to get an idea of how the system appears to work. I'm not about elitism at all, and I will be following developments of this idea with a great deal of interest.

Frank is sensitive by nature (Why, he won't tell), so you were asking for it with that one.

The short blacklist, or more appropriately the cause for the blacklist, was necessary, I think. It's best not to dwell on the past, though.

As for that politics stunt, I'm afraid we were partners in crime on that one.
