We all are startled by the recent changes, and many of us, upset. I was taken by surprise, and wasn't exactly pleased with the new idea, and I'm still not terribly keen to it.

But those matters aside, I'd like to address the "danger word", that seemingly everyone is calling on Bungie.net at this time. That word is, you guessed it: "elitism".

I get very tired of constantly hearing the word "elitism" thrown around so often whenever someone who isn't someone else gets some sort of honor (Recon armor, anyone).

So many of you claim that other people lord these honors over you. You whine about the fact that these honors are a vessel for someone to make you feel inadequate for not having those honors.

But face it. The problem isn't really that people lord these honors over you. It's that you lord it over yourself. It was Eleanor Roosevelt who said "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Meaning, that other people truly cannot make you feel insecure. Rather, they can only bring your personal insecurities into light. How did I come to this conclusion? Because I'm the same way. Who can honestly say that they don't try to blame someone else for making them feel insecure, when the person is only forcing them to acknowledge their own insecurities? That's what I thought.

So, instead of blowing the "elitism" horn, why not take the time to consider that maybe you yourself are just insecure about something. And the sad thing is, it's something so trivial.

Chew on that for a minute.

Other than the popularity contests that are sure to rise again from this change, nothing is wrong. Just think on the bright side.

Sounds kinda blog-ish.
And you just made another thread that people are going to post their arguments in.

How does this sound bloggish?

I'm not trying to start any arguments. I just want people to really think about this.

I know you dont want to start them...they just kinda happen.

I agree with what you say, but others may not..and then they will argue and we already have 2-3 of the arguments going on already.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I would have thought it better to have put this in an existing thread for cleanliness' sake, but I must agree with it none-the-less.

The enemy of my enemy shall die next.

I know the voices in my head are not real, but they have some great ideas.

Brown chicken Brown cow!

I think the OP has made a good point, not many people think of it that way around, I know I didnt.

But hopefully it will give people something to strive for, making them think more before they post so maybe they too can become a heroic/legendary/Mythic member (Not something I thought of but I forget who said it)

IMO the Report as Spam feature is great, when the Forums receive another member who is posting Thread after Thread that is spam, offensive etc. then just hit the button.

Users will no longer have to complain about The Ninjas not being available because we all know it will be flagged for them.

I agree. Names and appearances in a video game or on a forum are not something people should be worrying about. There's a lot more to life than a virtual world.

only eat one small snack a week to save money on food and just have water toilet and lights to save money thats my plan

Though the Earth is dying we must enrich her body, for the ground we tread is hφly.

I'm a lion in a world where everybody's content with being cats.

I highly doubt anyone with said armor dangles it over another's face except for a kind-hearted joke.

But should they be that conceited simply mute them in-game or ignore them on B.net.

So now I'm a beta tester. Let's see where this goes.

Let me say one thing:

Many people are going to say that a title change doesn't mean anything, but it does. It mean that the community leaders (overlord and ninjas) are now rewarding good behavior other than just punishing bad behavior. Maybe the title means nothing but the action of giving titles does, and to a certain extent so does earning one. I don't see elitism happening because of this but I do see a better community developing because of it.

Controlling fission events without incident since May, 2012.

Yep, pretty tasty. I've always maintained somewhat of the same idea, but never really put it into words. Great job on that by the way.

Lets also take a step back and here and realize just how insignificant this should be in your life. If you want to bicker about a couple letters under your name in this pseudo-community that you visit a few minutes out of the day, then there might very well be something wrong with you. Yes, its a nice little incentive, but don't throw a temper tantrum.

I agree, that little tag beside your name, or under it in this case, does not change your effect on this forum. I'm a member, and my post can be as meaningful or as meaningless and any heroic, legendary, or mythic member's post. I can post, that's all that really matters, a little title under your name does not change this.

This was implemented, in my eyes, to help Achronos track who he can and cannot trust, and give newer members a heads up and maybe an example to follow. In the long run it only effects what you let it.
