The new "report as spam" button seems cool enough, but I'm thinking that this button will soon be taken away simply for the fact it will soon be overused, flooding the Mods message boxes (i'm assuming this is what happened, if not then I stand corrected). The button will also be abused in a way that if a member merely disagrees with the opinion of another user, the button will be pushed. I'm predicting that this button will not live longer than a month IMO. If it does I will be surprised and impressed with all the b.net users.

Halo3Planet, the place for all things Halo 3..

Need help finding skulls, make sure to go here.

I am willing to guarantee there are safeguards to keep this from happening. I highly doubt the Web Team would implement a feature that they didn't intend to keep. I am willing to trust it will work fine.

I enjoy how you think Achronos didn't think about how to fix that little problem. Obviously those who abuse it will be ... Punished. <_<

No, only their current account will be punished.

Everyone who breaks rules gets their turn. Sometimes it's less of a turn, and more of an endless merry-go-round of people who have nothing better to do with their time on the internet, but it's a turn.

Wait, did you seriously use the spam button on him?

This whole thread is more than a spam than that post, he was just pointing out the obvious.

Now that my rant is done, I will contribute by saying that Achronos has stated that there will be swift punishment for those who abuse the feature, since I am scared that I will use the button for the wrong reason and get banned, I will probably not end up using it at all, unless something REALLY serious happens.

You assume much about both how the system works and how the mods interact with it.

Suffice it to say that it doesn't work like how you think it does and it has appropriate controls to deal with people who think they are smarter than they really are.

You shouldn't be scared to use it. It is smart enough to grant leeway to those meaning well, while those trying to be annoying face its wrath.

Photoshop it in there. I did that the "unleash Ninja" button so I could ban Pezza.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

you can report your own posts as spam?...... 0_0

And now that person's fervent contributions to the reporting pile go into the junk box.

My first though was that it would be abused/overused by those of us who aren't very responsible. I don't however, know how it works quite yet as I have yet to use it. So it may still have hope.

Have hope? Are things so bleak around here that people think something will be abused and broken at first sight? I understand there is reason to worry but having doubts before something has even had a chance to work is pessimistic. Try looking at the bright side first.

I try looking at both sides. However, the bad negative side(in my mind) outweighs the positive. Knowing some of the people that come on these forums, I couldn't help but assume that it would be abused.

Think of the report spam button as an easier way to PM the mods. That's all. I know it doesn't go to the mods inboxes but it's their for the same function. The get rid of the spammer.

AI is more advanced than robotics. And as for the "new button", well let's just say that us members can feel like 1/21 of a moderator.
