Lawl, I am teh Master of Ness!
I wish I could have tried them in matchmaking, but oh well...
I got a real quick look at the maps before going to work. I must say, I think they look awesome. Only found the sniper on foundry's basic setup though, still looking on standoff and rat's nest later. The foundry's weapons were quite easy to find. My impressions:
Foundry- The map looks to be an amazing thing for Forge. I really like the possibility and look forward to downloading the "empty" map varient whent it goes online (if it's online already, can someone let me know where?). However, I dont' think this map will be as great for online. Maybe it's cuz I haven't tried it yet, but running around seems to make me feel like the items are so jumbled that it won't be fun. I can see slayer being a blast, but objective games could be very hard.
Rat's Nest- Out of the new maps, this one has to be the favorite one, atleast til I see if the matchmaking is as good as I think it will be. In my opinion, the possibilities for objective games make this a truly strategic game. You can take the outer circuit on a vehicle to your enemy's side, there's a loop I think in there that you can run through, or of course you can go right through the middle. Seems pretty good, plus the weapons are in the middle, making it a fight for the good weapons to aid you in your objectives.
Standoff- Definitely not Blood Gulch, but nice. I can see that keeping the gate closed will be a major objective in objective games. With that gate open, people can snipe into the base (if this place has a sniper (haven't found it yet)), attack through the windows, or sneak in the back. Another great CTF or Bomb game to mess around with.
I didn't mention much slayer since I was looking at these maps as more of a objective thing, but I'm sure slayer is great on all of them. Can't wait to play around with them in matchmaking!
