Swords are cooler because it takes more skill to kill with a sword than jus tshooting someone in the face.

Anyone who thinks that you can simply shoot somone with no danger to themselves should go back in time and try storming the beaches of Normandy.

Well, that was a war. Of course the enemy is going to be shooting back. Normandy was a good example. Germany has (and stil has) far superior weapons to what America puts out. Of course, these days they're selling the weapons to us rather than shooting them at us. Heckler & Koch owns. All.

Anyways, I think guns are cooler because while katanas are positively awesome, they don't work. And whether or not something works is a big factor in whether I consider it "cool."

How about bayonets? Guns, and knives. Make the knives swords and you got yourself on heck of a mix. For elegance and honor, I would go with swords. For just blowing the crap out of someone, I'd go with guns. Swords= Japanese, Chinese, anime, Samurai, Ninja movies. Guns= alien, terrorist, buddy cop, western, war movies.

You don't use bayonets, because they get stuck. Use your trench shovel instead; you take a man's head clean off.

It really depends on what type of gun or what type of sword. If you mean like a chain gun, or a M16, then that requires little/no talent, Snipers however need talent and a hardened mind and soul. Normal swords are pretty stupid to, but stuff like katanas are pretty cool.

♠The enemy of my enemy is my enemy's friend's enemy♠

Swords are way more honorable than guns, and cooler. But I can take a chaingun and mow down an entire crowd, without using skill. Or if you killed a crowd with a gun, people would say your crazy, but if you killed a crowd with a sword, people would say your sadistic. So since it takes way more skill to wield a sword properly than a gun, I'd say the sword is way cooler.

Swords,
Swords have a certain elegance to them... Especially Samurai Swords, true works of art, hand crafted, hand made. Plus there is something about swords in action that is so much better than guns in action. For Example, Movies. Sword Duals have great choreography, Princess Bride, Star Wars(light sabers are swords), Kill Bill, Last Samurai, etc.... I don't get the same feeling from gun shoot out scenes. The Sword is graceful and deadly at the same time.

I vote for Swords to be cooler.

I agree that swords are cooler. However, I don't think guns are as uncool as you make them out to be. Go watch a classic John Woo movie if you want to see how good a choreographed gun fight scene can be. ;)

Swords are good for intense close fighting films and all but I voted gun. Guns you can take out a person from far away, and guns can blow things up. Can't do that with a sword.

What they hell do you mean? Of course Katanas don't work like they do in the Matrix or anime. They aren't ment for cutting steel or stone, and if used for that in real life they would most definitely break. No, what they are ment for is cutting leather, flesh, and bone. And that's something they do extremely well, even in real life. Regardless of what you think of them, they were swords used by the Japanese.

And I supose I was a bit off on saying 'you can shoot someone with no danger to yourself', but my other points still remain. Learning how to use a particular sword and style is still more involved than learning to shoot a gun accurately (remember: I still think guns require skill, but not as much as a sword).

pros and cons:

GUN:
the power of blowing someones head of from 300 yards away. and there are a such thig as a gun duel. any one who has ever played halo shold know how to gun duel. and all you martix fans too.(neo vs smith the first time). in long range to medium and even short range combat the gun is a verry eficiant weapon. to a sniping rifle. based on stelth and surgical acuracy whith a singal bullet. to a mini gun wich relys on shear mass of number to over whelm there oponent.
SWORD:
the sword is a completly diferent weapon. instead of being used as a tool like the gun, it becomes an extention of you'r arm. a part of you. and in so many different styls and methods ranging from a raipeir. a long and pionty weapon that is focused on stabing your oponent. to a samuri sword witch is more of a slashing weapon. to a chines fencing. the sword used in crouching tiger hiden dragon. for a visual refrence.

so basicaly it's a toss up
