Subject: Ads on Bnet?

you know, earlier I posted that I would be ok with ads, but no, Im not. Thats one thing that ruins websites like IGN, too manny ads. Dont ruin Bnet.

I've been mulling over this too. I really would like to see Bnet remain ad-free, but if there were ads, it wouldn't necessarily stop me from coming to Bnet.

Да?

So are these ads going to be on the forums (such as above each thread, in between the OP and all other comments). Just way too many forums have ads. Banners wouldn't bother me, but going in the same direction as IGN would be a mistake, because IGN is a very cluttered website to begin with, but the adds are quite annoying and I'm sure they make a bomb off of the adverts anyway (that or there's always their multi Billion dollar owners to fall back on, which bungie now doesn't have). Gamespot also has an advert between a few pages then give you the option to pay to never see them.

That's my main thought, will I have to pay you so I'm not spammed with adverts?

At the same point I'm glad that Bungie did say about adverts, hell any other website would have just done it, so thanks to Bungie for that.

Keep it as thin as possible. You have good taste and you shouldn't compromise on that. If you have to post ads just keep a "less is more "standard.

Maybe mall ones linking to other MAJOR gaming communities, like, for example, MLG? (Please don't defoliate me!).

If you are going to have ads at least make them interesting. I will leave that to you to figure out how to do that.

You know what you could do, you could make a thing like IGN has where an ad pops up before your page and you can disable the ad. Other than that I hate ads.

I'll be happy to 'support' your ads.

Would ads make it possible for bnet to have streaming video on it's webcams?

The site is too pretty for ads. It would be like putting a Baby Geniuses movie poster in the Louvre.

Hmmmm...Ads on Bungie.net. Well Bungie is a growing company and to reach there goal of world domination it is good that they get some support to make even better games so I am supporting that bungie put adds on Bungie.net

I wouldn't mind a banner ad placed at the top or bottom of the page. Just nothing obscure like pop-ups or flash banners. I know that operating bungie.net is no cheap endeavor, so getting a little extra ad revenue doesn't sound like a bad thing. And a bungie.net gold account seems like a pretty good idea also.

I'm all for world domination. As long as the ads are unobtrusive and appropriate (sites like Gamasutra, Sloperama, and maybe even other studios), I'm all for it. I can't think of any legitimate group in the games industry that wouldn't like a spot on the B list.

i dont care if there or ads or not. it would be cool to have ads if they are strictly gaming related. and not very big. and no popups. and no things that say click here to coninue. i want bungie to be the best it can be, and make the most money it can, so ads are great.

I'd do it in a manner similar to Xbox Live. The ads are there, but it's somewhat subtle. I'd also choose ads that are relevant to what most of us would feel comfortable with. I can't see a sales ad for Victoria's Secret on here. Unless Bungie decided to market green armored bras. ^_^

As long as my monitor isn't flooded with seizure inducing ads, I'm all for it. If it's what you really want and if it'll help you guys out.
