Because it has one of the greatest story lines....ever. It is a graphical master piece. And has the perfect Balance between Stratagy, Teamwork, and Run n' Gun shooting.

I have the PC version and it is the best game I have ever played. Great fps, great storyline, great visuals. The game is really deep. You can beat it once then as you replay it on harder levels, you pick up more and more details about the whole experience.

What makes halo such an excellent game is that it has about thirty seconds of fun that lasts voer and over and over again. Especially on multiplayer. It never gets old. The enemies are always fun to kill(cept for hunters) and it has awesome death defing weapons that kick total ass! The nyou have the graphics and level design. Whats not to like? Am I right Marines?

for me, the main reason why halo is such a great game is the 'feel' of gameplay. the flow and movement through the environs, the look (and first-person location) and feel of the weapons- just how the 3D environments look around you. i guess you would really understand what i'm really trying to say if you've played 'medal of honor' or other, lesser fps'. also, i really liked the fact that you don't/can't cycle through eight different weapons during gameplay- i like that you can only have two at a time. i really liked the storyline, and that you were not just dropped into something to shoot everything you came accross. from what i gather, halo2 is due to show an even richer, deeper story.

The story has to be the starting block, but thats what Bungie has always been about, story telling and doing it in a way it brings it alive and makes it feel right. As the old Bungie fans around here know, what we got in Halo is just like how we felt when we played Marathon and Myth. That amazing story making you feel apart of a whole new universe. Halo also had such an amazing depth with its music, the emotion it carried was like nothing else in a game to date. Truely amazing.
