Subject: About the 'Report as spam' button

Tag 'em and Bag 'em!

Sorry if this has been brought up before.

It seems the 'Report as spam' button is near enough everywhere on Bungie.net, it's even a clickable link in your file share and recent screenshots (go have a look). I mean, yeah we need it on the forums, but is it really neccessary in the said places, or was this unintentional?

if you can post or draw there, you can post or draw spam or bad stuff there.
It is needed everywhere.

No place is safe from spam, vulgar language or "other" stuff

Tag 'em and Bag 'em!

You can't post anything or draw anything in someone elses file share or recent screenshots etc.

Your Halo 3 content can be considered spam as well.

The person hosting the image may have gone into forge and places items in a way that looks like words.
ie> "I Hate < Insert racial term here > "

When you hit the report spam link a mod will investigate and removed the image.
The user will then be dealt with.

Ah, I see. Fair enough then.

Thanks.

Instead of creating another thread, I may as well post this here. I've noticed that sometimes after clicking the report as spam button, after leaving the thread then returning, instead of saying "post reported" it will say "report as spam" again.

Not sure about that, it hasn't happened to me yet, but I guess it's just one of those things. I've sometimes seen myself being able to vote on the same poll twice and I've no idea why it does that.

Someone mentioned this a while ago and Achronos stated that it is intentional. He also gave some advice -- if you clicked it once, DON'T click it again! :-)

The button on the actual files and screenshots should be used when you see something offensive or rule breaking in the file itself. Like someone writes profanity or a racial slur use Forge or in the description or title of the file. Moderators don't get file reports, those go to Bungie (as mods can't alter stuff from the game).

This is seperate from the report button in the forum posts for files, which do go to the mods.
This has been discussed previously, but for clarification the "report as spam" feature also incorporated with the Halo 3 files was implemented for a specific purpose as stated above.

Wow! Finally! Here you go... I have to warn you that it isn't worth it. Such a failure this week. I would rather have not had an update at all.

I also have a question:

What if we click the 'Report as Spam' button, because we thought it was spam, but it wasn't?

For instance, I found a guy Quote Bumping (bumped a topic while quoting his own post again and again) and I reported him.

That was the only time I have reported, if that wasn't spam, but I thought it was, and I reported it, would I be in trouble?

I would assume no, unless you start doing that a lot. I seem to recall that someone said that the system looks at how you use that button and can evaluate how much credibility to give you. That might just be my imagination, though.

I guess the only way it can tell is because of Achronos' new program, the A-eye. It is an Artificial Intelligence that looks deep into your soul and decides if you are lying or not. It is currently situated inside your webcamera, and soon, your brain!

If I have anything to say it would be "You can report yourself for spam!?!".
It seems a little idiotic, not that I would break any rules or anything.

Since another thread is not needed I was wondering, is random group invites sent out considered spam if you get them without ever asking to join or know the person just a random group invites which I know people get a lot.

I just want Acrhonos to change the name of the button. Report as spam can be misleading, people may not report certain things because they don't consider them as spam per se.

What if someone is violating the code of conduct?

Yeah, I agree, something like 'Report Post' or 'Report Violation' would be better.

Lol, yeah, something like that.

Not only because it includes any type of violation but it makes it more meaningful on the website (i.e. the file share and such) than just 'Report as spam' which seems a bit odd to have next to someones ascreenshot or whatever.
