Subject: Mythic Members

So I think Jun's a master chef, because he takes off his helmet and your like whoa, I think he's a chef.

So to shorten this up, Jun is master chef.

Well, we all know about the new update with Heroic, Legendary, and Mythic members. However, the last of those three has been eluding me. I haven't seen one of them post since the update in the forums that I frequent.

Today, however, I set out to find someone who is a Mythic member. I was only able to find one. I will not post a link to this person's account, but I will say that the last time they posted was in September, and before that, they posted only in July, March and only 1 or 2 posts in each of those months listed. I find it a bit odd that someone who posts so infrequently would be Mythic. I would like to know exactly what the criterion are for Mythics, because Heroics and Legendarys seem to be very active.

There are a quite few more Mythic members which can easily be found according to their user ID number. However, the trust system is based off of many different metrics in order to determine their forum title. One of these is date joined, which means that if you are recently new to Bungie.net you would not be considered as trustworthy compared to someone who signed up in 2001. Although again, that is only one of many things that can affect your trust rating. They will not just give you the formula to how the trust system works, for it is to be enjoyed rather than exploited.

Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it's greatest achievement
We're barely, we're just a collection of cells

In case you happen to have missed the last 30 or 40 times Achronos posted it, he said no one will ever know what criteria go into deciding what title a person receives.

I think mythic members might be hand picked by Achronos et al, and fall outside the algorithm.

  • 12.13.2007 12:07 PM PDT

I just want to say this now. I don't want anyone hand picking my member!

A tosser is the same as a wanker. To toss oneself off is to fondle the trouser weasel.

Achronos

Joe Staten

Well, that was actually funny.

Anyway, Acrhonos will never reveal how the system works, so do us all a favour and stop asking!

I think that you must have joined before the New Hawtness to start to qualify for Mythic status.

When you hover your mouse over someone's name, look at the end of the link to see the member number. If it is a low number, like 3000, that member is probably from the year 2003. If you keep going down in number, say 40, you will see older and older members. All you have to do is change the member number on the link at the end and search to look at another member's profile, even if you don't know who they are.

At the end of the war. Nothing remains but a few Spartans. We are the only ones left. We are the Last Defence.

I think if you gave it more thought you would be able to figure out why people get these titles.

I'm not sure if that's right. If you hover your mouse over my username I'm in the 2 millions! Bungie recently went over 1 million a few months ago. I joined in January, way before they hit 1 million.

Thats cause IDs aren't reused, there are plenty of UIDs that don't point towards profiles because they were deleted due to inactivity.

I have had an account for a long time but didn't have it linked. When I linked my gamertag I changed my Bungie.net nae and therefore I'm only a member since December 9th. It's alright with me. I don't want to be recognized publicly or have a fancy name. Just the small things are what counts.

Thank You for taking the time to read what I have to say.

"But you were dead a thousand times. Hopeless encounters successfully won. A man long dead, grafted to machines your builders did not understand. You follow the path, fitting into an infinite pattern. Your to manipulate, destroy and rebuild. Now, in the quantum moment before closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny."

Is it coincidence there are no members with an ID of 7 or 77 etc. or power of 7?

  • 12.13.2007 4:29 PM PDT

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Probably not. After a period of time, accounts are deleted; their numbers never to be used again.

Formerly known as BASs13 and One Point Three

i think you should have some recent activity to be a mythic member because it seems stupid that the highest titled people don't even visit the forums.

Don't be so quick to discredit; there are Mythics that are active.

Though, it should be known, the Trust Rating has only been active for about a year. Given some time and minor adjustment, the system will balance out.

Yeah. I just found a Mythic who has posted twice in his history. He joined in '01. He had one post in '04 and one in May '07. I find it ridiculous that they would choose people who post that infrequently to have the highest rank available.

I don't see why it should matter. The new rankings have no concrete benefits; the only power they get are those that members give them, metaphoricly speaking.

A few people slipping between the cracks, the cracks of a newly tailored system mind you, is definately worth the risks, and rewards, of this system. That's just how I feel.
