Now I know this is a new thread about an old problem BUT I thought it important enought to post as new!
There I was, 5 am reinstalling for the billionth time, and I say to myself, SELF, 1.06 is a security patch SO I went to the explorer security settings and set the security setting for the internet to medium low, and low and behold started the game downloaded the patch and connected immediatly to the game spy servers. DUH. Now I'm not sure if this will help everyone BUT from reading the threds it seems as though most of the problems were the same. GOOD LUCK.

Heyyo,

So letme get this straight... you tried to install the patch (v1.06) but it failed and then you tried to lower your secruity settings to be able to install the patch but that failed too?

hmm... check your blocked sites, make sure it's not blocking any M$ websites....

You can also try downloading the actual patch instead of the autoupdater version. It still asks that you approve of a microsoft item being put on your comp, but ya never know eh?

Mard I tried repetedly to run the update and it said (your game is up to date) NOT. And then manually install the patch and it said (there was a problem connecting to the Game spy servers) SO I clean installed again and went into the explorer security settings and lowered the internet security down to Medium low, started the game then it says there is an update click ok to close the game and download the patch and it worked but only after lowering the security settings in explorer.

Heyyo,

Oh ok, sry, misunderstood. But yeah, in order to be able to install updates, you have to be able to accept special web updates/products from M$. Halo updates being an example. If Internet Exploiter is acting dumb and blocking special web updates/products you won't be able to get that update/product which's probably what happened to ya. I think it's like, activeX stuff....
