It said in the book, the Flood, that Jackals were believed to be turned in to carrier forms. I know Grunts are, but read the book it says it.

Humans = Small Carrier Forms
Elites = Larger Carrier forms
? = Explosive Carrier Forms
Jackals = Nothing! Why not?
Hunters = Nothing! Why not?

Can someone help me out. Do Grunts turn to Explosive Carrier Forms? I'm not a 'noob' but I just never found out what Grunts turn into.

When you mean carrier forms, do you mean the exploding ones?

it said in the books that the flood found jackals and grunts to be inferior as combat forms, so the flood just killed them, i dont think they ever said nething about hunters tho
also i know that jackals and grunts don't turn into carrior forms because in the books, it said that older combat forms turned into carrior forms
so inorder to become a carrior form, you must first turn into a combat form which jackals and grunts cant turn into
and the infectious forms really dont come from nething, they are born to infect humans and covenant and turn them into combat forms so they can turn into carrior forms and make more infectious forms

Grunts and jackels' heads get get inflated when infected and infection forms jump into their heads, the product: a cariere form. Combat forms eventualy turn into incubaters for infection forms, a.k.a. a carier form. That is what the books said.

Infection forms don't just pop into the grunt or jackal's heads, but they are created there, grown. The flood need some way of reproducing, and that is how they do it. They use beings deemed unsuitable for combat. Carrier forms always explode, Spartan 3920, the non-explosive ones you are refering to are called Combat forms. The infection forms are the ones that pop on your shields, are grown inside a carrier form, and once free, latch on to a host, and turn them into a carrier or combat form.

Humans and Elites = Combat Forms
Hunters = Nothing because they all have Boron's disease (Flood see them as unsuitable)
Jackals and Grunts = Carrier forms

Is that right?

hm... never actually heard of that. Makes sense though, with all the exposure to their fuel rod cannon (which might resemble the cancerous plasma emitted from the all the plazzies that Sarge threw on his mission)

Perhaps Hunters cant be infected because they lack sufficient gray matter for a permanent "control". Or maybe the flood are just FAR too stupid to see the advantage of infecting a 12 foot tall, thousand pound harbringer of death./

Jackals can be infected, and so can Hunters. I'm not the expert on it all though, I'll ask my friend about it tomorrow and get back to you

Yeah, all I know is that they can, I'm not sure what form they take though

No, Grunts and Jackals are Carrier Forms. But it takes several of them to make one Carrier. It is true that older or crippled combat forms become carriers, but there is more than one means to become a carrier.

Yes, that is correct. I don't know if the hunters have Boron's Disease (I think that's what it's called), but maybe it's just that the flood can't penetrate their armor. They tap into your spinal cord, and then go into your chest cavity, but maybe they can only enter through the top, and hunters are much too coverered for that.

Carrier Forms - Harvest infection forms, usually have grunt or jackal host. (bodies deemed unsuitable for combat)
Combat Forms - Self Explanatory, usually Elite or Human host.
Infection Forms - Latches on to enemy to take control of their body, and make either carrier or combat form, grown inside carrier forms.

Here this should clear up the matter If an infection form takes over a body that is unsuitable for combat, or once a combat form is damaged beyond usefulness, it becomes a carrier form. . I got that off the site with the largest amount of Halo info I found, here

Humans turn into little combat forms and Elites turn into big ones (look at their heads)
Then after a while they turn into Carrier forms
Grunts and Jackles do not turn into anything they are just used as food so they can reproduce, but Hunters i'm not sure.

I like to call that the "Brain" Flood. I think it absorbs hosts that would prove extremely useful in tactical situations, as well as find a way to get off of Halo and find a new food source. So, the Ship Master (Or his replacement, He could have been killed on T and R when you assault the bridge) and Captain Keyes were absorbed. Ship Master for knowing how to run the ship, Keyes for tactics and his knowledge of where Earth is.
