You say tomato; I say potato.

I've spent hours crafting a single post before. (I use the word "crafting" loosely.)
How many times, though? This happens quite often. I have a mental guide of how to post.
1) Brainstorm the topic. Consider each and every possibility and play devil's advocate a bit until you have a solid opinion on the matter.
2) Research all of your facts. This can be done before or after you brainstorm.
3) Read and reread your post. Be sure to edit out the junk to make your post as legible as possible. This is also a good time to use spell checker. You should also strive to use the most accurate grammar. (There is no grammar check, so the best way to get better at this is to read.)
4) Once you're completely satisfied with the content of your post; be sure you copy the entire post to Notepad or Word. I've given up on too many posts because the preview button decided to take advantage of my free buffet of a post. (Seriously, it can delete your entire post, so be sure you have it copied!)
5) Preview your post and reread it to be sure that the post is complete.
6)Submit.
Posts like this can be tedious, but they allow for so much more creativity.
