Subject: a very simple forum suggestion

im not a forum expert so i dont know if this is possible, but it sounds simple enough

we all know we can rate pictures

but my suggestion is rating topics on this part of the forum, which will be displayed on the list of topics

example

name of thread
author
replies
rating
last post

there are quite a few silly posts around here, so this way, people can rate the topic, and others will see if its worth clicking on

simple eh?

* How is it that "Fat Chance" and "Slim Chance" mean the same thing?
* If you choke a Smurf, what color will it turn?

Hmm

No, I don't like it.

I've been on forums that use a rating scale for threads and it seems a little redundant. many times I see news articles rated lowly. it just adds another way for people to put down others which could lead to flaming.

So I think Jun's a master chef, because he takes off his helmet and your like whoa, I think he's a chef.

The subject matter being discussed and the discussion to date should be the only thing that brings members into a thread and makes them want to contribute.

The fact that someone (or 1,000 someones) clicked on "I like this", should neither matter nor give any more value to the thread than it already has on its own.

Content. Not packaging.

Substance. Not flashing lights.

Discussion. Not popularity contests.

Agreed. You're too good with words.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.
