I was just checking a friends fileshare and under the pic one of the options was to report as spam. Here's a link to it. How could someones screenshot be spam without them doing anything with it other than putting it in their personal fileshare?

Breaking the rule of having it in your personal stash without posting it or showing it to anybody. So if I had a pic in my share of say, something obscene, and one of you jokers stumbled across it, I could get in trouble for that? That's the most asinine thing I've ever imagined.

Nothing on the internet is personal, it is all public record. So yes, if it can be offensive or obscene to any party, I suggest not making it. I'd report it in a heartbeat myself. Keep your personal innuendos to yourself please.

I was speaking hypothetically but I can see your point. This guy doesn't even have a b.net profile so I'm sure he's not worried but I was still curious when I saw that.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Remember the Terms of Use. Some may think of this site as having a "personal" file share, but it does not belong to the user. It belongs to Bungie. Bungie.net cannot be used to transmit obscene material in any way. So if you were to use Forge to draw something gross or obscene, and then place it in the file share, you would thus be violating the ToU. As a result of this possibility, Achronos placed the "Report as Spam" button on fileshare items. Makes sense to me.

I understand that and it makes sense, but what about someone who only plays h3 and doesn't have a b.net profile? What would that mean to them? I would guess nothing, I mean, reporting their pics as "spam" and getting a mod or even Achronos involved wouldn't get them banned from xbl or anything. I do see the validity of it for b.net members though. It just struck me as odd when I saw it.

Only bungie.net staff get screenshot/file share spam reports (moderators don't). If it is warranted, we just delete the item (it will vanish from every share when we do that). Most of the time, that's it. But with harassment or hate speech, we'll usually upload ban, preventing all file sharing. We've only had to do that like five times so far to people who thought writing racial hate speech with Forge was funny.

And that is why we don't need to report spam. With the good folks at Bungie studios keeping our forums clean, we can trust that they'll do it. Of course, sending them a PM about it would help speed things along.

Thanks for keeping our forums clean, Achronos.

Their reactions must have been priceless.

Just imagining it is warming my insides a little. [:

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the clichéd lines.

Thanks for clearing that up Achronos. I was curious as to the report as spam thing regarding screenshots and stuff also. Sometimes I'll take multiple screenshots because I'm not sure how well I'll like it when I view it on a computer. And I was afraid someone would report one of my mess ups as spam.

I've seen only one very obscene picture in the files forums, and I really didn't know what to do about it. I feel like such a fool.
