Most interesting bit was from the Kikizo video from E3 2004. He had 1 SMG, then picked up a Needler, and all sorted, dual wield. Most interesting bit though was when he picked up the Energy Sword it dropped the SMG, and when he picked up the Battle Rifle, he had to drop the Needler. So in brief he was only carrying 2 weapons at a time no matter what, its just that if its 2 one handed he could fire both together, as with the two 2 handed weapons he had to carry one and use the other as with Halo1.
That could just be a few ideas they are still testing, but like everything, its still being tested no doubt.
Interface wise would guess Y changes from your Needler to your SMG say, in single hand mode, and since you have two 1 handed weapons, if you hit X you would then dual wield them....to drop I would probably say going back to single hand mode and switching to the one u want to drop would be the way its done.
