Ok I know that if you do the following you have to ditch your left arm weapon

1) Boarding Vehicles makes you drop it.
2) Pressing B (meleeing) makes you drop it.

In the demo it also said "to stop dual wielding press Y".... NOW.... does this mean that you'll DROP your weapon in order to switch? Or does it mean that when you switch your weapon, you keep both, but effectively stop dual wielding...temporarily?

When you press Y you just switch weapons and dont drop your 2nd weapon.

You sure about that? I think it'd make more sense to drop the other weapon, but if that's true can ya point me where it says, I'm curious as well

no it meant to put the weapon away in your storage or w/e. They wouldnt assign 2 buttons to one thing especially since the controls are so conplex. I never heard u drop weapons when entering a vehicle though...

where'd you get #1 from?

Im not saying the two buttons do the same thing....
Im saying that maybe:

B- Drop weapon and use right hand weapon only
Y- Drop weapon and switch to your secondary weapon

I believe I heard a moderator say that you now drop a weapon when you switch as opposed to the e3 2003 where his second weapon was simply kept. He said that they had changed it since 2003 but Im not sure.

Most interesting bit was from the Kikizo video from E3 2004. He had 1 SMG, then picked up a Needler, and all sorted, dual wield. Most interesting bit though was when he picked up the Energy Sword it dropped the SMG, and when he picked up the Battle Rifle, he had to drop the Needler. So in brief he was only carrying 2 weapons at a time no matter what, its just that if its 2 one handed he could fire both together, as with the two 2 handed weapons he had to carry one and use the other as with Halo1.

That could just be a few ideas they are still testing, but like everything, its still being tested no doubt.

Interface wise would guess Y changes from your Needler to your SMG say, in single hand mode, and since you have two 1 handed weapons, if you hit X you would then dual wield them....to drop I would probably say going back to single hand mode and switching to the one u want to drop would be the way its done.

Watch it again, he had the battle rifle right from the start....

Starting weapons:

BATTLE RIFLE + SMG (starts with SMG equipped)

while holding the SMG he starts to dual wield the needler

so its;

BATTLE RIFLE + SMG/NEEDLER

Then he kills wort and throws the needler down making it:

BATTLE RIFLE + SMG

Then he swaps his SMG for an energy sword

BATTLE RIFLE + ENERGY SWORD

he kills wort with the energy sword and then switches to his battle rifle....
after blowing up a ghost he picks up the rocket launcher so he can take out the warthog. He swaps the battle rifle for the rocket launcher.

ROCKET LAUNCHER + ENERGY SWORD

and he finishes the demo with these weapons.
