Now I'm no Halo expert, but I'm pretty sure that camouflage implies that you are at least slightly more difficult to see than before. But not on my computer.

I just got a new Radeon 9250 for my eMachine (2.7 gHz Celeron) and I must say that it is a very nice card. It's PCI, with 128 MB of video memory, and works flawlessly... except when it comes to the active camo.

Now I'm relatively familiar with the camo problems found on nVidia cards, and I am NOT having those same problems. For some reason, when I or anyone else in my game grabs a camo, they bevome very... not transparent. It's more of a metallic silver/blue, with no texture or transparency whatsoever. I've tried forcing different pixel shaders, different resolutions, different texture levels, et cetera. I simply can't find any way to fix it. Does anyone out there have any words of wisdom for me?

That's not a great card, sorry. I doubt it's capable of rendering the active camo effect. I'm not even sure if active camo works on any card below Radeon 9600. If it makes you feel any better, you'll still be hard to see for other people on multiplayer. Cheap cards = cheap performance, and your card isn't even AGP.

Heyyo,

Yeah, I'mma agree with Skip there, that's not the strongest card on the market, and ain't close to it, sry dude...

There seems to be some probs with older cards and Halo. Me bud's gotta ATI Radeon 7200 and he gets the same prob. He's tried newer videocard drivers, and that diddn't work so he eventually gotta good videocard. You might have to do the same. Try to get newer videocard drivers first. I suggest ATI Catalyst v4.5 cause the newer ones seem to ruin my HaloPC framerates....

The Radeon 9250 is a DirectX 8 card. Meaning, for want of a better term, it is a piece of -blam!-. You need a DX9 card for the camo effect. This is Radeon 9500+ or one of the FX series of cards.

Heyyo,

Well, E-Machines is the best for big corporation computer tech support. So it can't be all too bad buying one for help... but yeah, in terms of the computer quality.... you can't beat custom made. ;)

[EDIT]
Oh, can you get a screenie then post a link to it here, or send it to me via e-mail:
jagged_jimmy_j (at) hotmail.com (I don't post norm e-mail style, why? that's one of the main ways big corporations get your e-mail for spamming....

Doh! just posted same problem for the ATI Radeon 9200 series card...yeah...PCI. Installed it onto a barebone as my main PC has gone pearshaped and I can't be bothered sorting it for the sake of a few games...still works for other stuff. Upgrading soon, so didn't see the need to fix the system....until now, some other problems, graphics can get a bit jittery at times, a real scunner when sniping on moving targets. Seemed like a great idea at the time...mind I can see the sneaky people now!!
