Fall of Reach is easily the best Halo novel. Onyx is probably second, followed by Harvest.

I got his sarcasm...one person has to implement sarcasm and then you get a pile of terrorist chipmunks crashing your party, not fun at all..

Contact Harvest.

Up until it came out TFOR was my favorite - but I really liked the amount of depth that CH had, which is something I loved in Halo 2 as well. Sure the cliffhanger spoilt the plot a bit but the depth in H2 was absolutely amazing.

Fall of Reach followed by First Strike. Both have invaluable info needed for a true halo fan. I did not mention Contact Harvest only cause i have not read it yet. Christmas can't come fast enough.

Phrog pilots, reckless and free. We would strap into our birds, set the engines on fire, and leave these earthly bonds with a chorus of WHOP WHOP WHOP. Akin to beating your chest and howling in defiance at the rest of the world.

My favorite was Contact Harvest. I liked Joe Staten's writing style and also that he fleshed out the Covenant quite a bit more. It changed how I see cutscenes now. I like Nyland's work too though. Fall of Reach and First Strike were good reads as well.

I really loved First Strike. Fall of Reach and GoO are great reads too. Haven't had the chance to read Contact Harvest but I will try and get it over my christmas holiday.

I gotta go with Fall of Reach. The story was topnotch, especially John's early years. Contact Harvest is barely behind it though. Its story was quite epic.
