"I agree OP. I, too, love feeling superior to others and enjoy the sensation of belonging to an imaginary elitist group on the internet."
I can't take it any more. I just have to say it. Halo 2 has one of the worst online experiences in the gaming universe.
My friends got me into Halo 2 a year or so after it's release. I bought the game, an Xbox live account, and started to play.
At first, I was having fun. Campaign was solid, multiplayer was fun, and it was an overall good time.
However, my Xbox died on me 5 times in two months. How lame is that? It was brand new, and it breaks. Microsoft made a big mistake in making a cheap system and replacing effective / expensive [arts with cheap / easily breakable ones. Oh well, M$ are idiots. What else is new?
Then, as I slowly progress up, I begin to notice things. How did he get out of the map? You know, the other team hasn't killed me yet with a BR. Wait, did he just shoot two shots at once with a BR? Why is that guy on my time repeatedly killing himself?
I soon realised that this was the proud "pro" community I was striving to get into. It was full of cheaters. Why should I work to bring up my rank when when I do get to a high level, it's a terrible experience? I can't even go ONE game without a Cheater, Hacker, Deranker, Jerk, or overall n00b. It ruins the overall fun of the game.
Team Hardcore is the worse. Sure, everyone has a BR. But that loses it's fun what, when you start? BXR, BXB, and the like ruin the game. I can't believe I spent over $1000 in repairs, the game, the Xbox, and other products JUST to want my money back.
Stop cheating. You're ruining the game.
