So now I'm a beta tester. Let's see where this goes.

This is why most of the Bungie employees have abandoned this site in favour of HBO. Stop being lame crybaby's.

That's just sad. I came here in the first place trying to become part of the Bungie community. Now it feels like I have been part of a lie meant to protect the real community. I guess I'm going to have to start out fresh in a new forum where nobody knows me.

So you're saying that you think Bungie created this forum to keep HBO from being "contaminated"?

If that's true, you should know better than that. Bungie.net is far older than Halo.Bungie.org. The employees didn't choose for Bungie.net to be regarded as the crap chute it's viewed as by other sites. Blame the members, past and present, for that.

Maybe that's not the way it always was to begin with but if they have truly abandoned Bnet in favor HBO then that's the way it has become. Some of the members this forum have been here a long time and have never joined the HBO forum. Having the employees leave is kind of like they have turned their backs on the community. Maybe that is the result of members, past and present, but abandonment seems like a poor way to solve a problem, and clearly there is a problem if they have left. I know that I have been a part of lukems group, The Brute Ghostbusters, and he hasn't posted there in weeks. That could just be the way he is, but the other employees are defiantly lacking a presence here. I wish one of the mods or Achronos would prove me wrong, but then why would one of them say otherwise to begin with?

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

That's not turning your back on someone(s), that's getting sick of people being dicks. If someone took every word that came out of my mouth as promised fact, and made a big freakin' deal about stuff I didn't do, I'd be pretty galled, too.

I'm just surprised that you seem so disappointed.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Bungie owns the site. This isn't a government -- it is a company. Bungie can do what it wants, whereas you cannot. Seems simple enough to me.

I'm am somewhat disappointed. You see I have to work with dicks everyday who do take my every word as promised fact and will have my ass if I don't make good on it. I guess that learning to deal with them has kept me from understanding that some people don't have to and don't know how to.

I care about the Bnet community and don't want to see it fall apart, but if the employees have left the decent community members to deal with the dicks then they have turned their backs on us.

Edit: I have realized that my posts in this thread have become more or less off-topic. That being the case if anyone one would like to respond please PM me.

We're not saying it's illegal, we're saying that it's irresponsible.

But it's not even that.

Irresponsible, in this situation, would be a school teacher showing you this video. It's not Bungie Studio's job to make sure what you do is alright with your parents.

As I've said before, if you don't take personal responsibility of your own actions, no one will.

Live for nothing die for something.

Wow, whats the big deal. I watched the video and im 13, I didnt think anything of it except that it was funny, nothing i havent seen before.

So if Bungie linked to a pr0n website you would be fine with that? Bungie doesn't take personal responsibility for your actions.

In the hypothetical situation, I wouldn't be fine with it, but I wouldn't care much. I can explain to my parents, if they found out, the situation, and they'd understand.

Of course, it be funny a few days later as the news-poster had his ass handed to him and he was fired for doing that.

To be abundantly clear and perfectly blunt: yes, that would be fine. I might not like it due to its detrimental effect on Bungie's reputation or business, but there is absolutely no "moral" or "responsibility" problem with Bungie putting whatever the hell it wants to on its own website.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

I had more of a problem with the video's pathetic lack of humor on every level. Like nearly everything else on Newgrounds, it was the Control-Alt-Delete of flash cartoons. It's not funny, but for some reason a lot of people like it and it just won't die.

Except for the Hunters on T&R, that was kind of funny.

Amen.

Except Legendary Frog's stuff. He's pretty good IMO. If they were going to put up a Halo parody, I think they should have done this. Watch the first two parts (Heretic and Return to Sender)... the rest aren't worth your time by any standard.

Do not link to adult content or to sites that contain information on any type of software piracy.

When I logged on today the First thing I saw was a post by frankie, saying to go check out this cartoon thats funny. upon watching it I see that its not only NOT funny, its full of sex jokes and stupid remarks. It was very adult, and I would hate to walk in on my kid watching that.

Today is a sad day for Bungie, indeed. I think Bungie should do the right thing and have that link removed, there are minors on this site. I'm ashamed of being a Bungie fan this day.

  • 12.19.2007 8:11 PM PDT

Formerly known as BASs13 and One Point Three

I think Frankie pushed the limit a little bit, but did not step across the line. If my parents walked into the room in the aforementioned part, the situation probably wouldn't have turned out well.

A little bit off-topic, HBO and B.net are two very different atmospheres. Calling one better than other is like saying peanut butter is better than jelly.

....This has nothing to do with Halo 3 or Halo at all. The game is rated M for mature which means 17+. Anyone under that age shouldn't be playing this game and as a parent you should keep a better eye on your kid.

Dude, give me a break. This game never deserved the "M" rating, I mean seriously play Halo and then play Gears of War or Grand Theft Auto.Which one should be out of kids hands? Halo 3 does not deserve the "Mature" rating... hence there are tons of children playing this game.

Children, who are probably 10-14, and some of the stuff shown is probably "Mature Humor" which is not a content descriptor of the game, by the way, so they can't really have "mature humor" just because its a "Mature" game..... A lot of parent's make their decisions based on the "Content" descriptors... and probably would be game purhcasers. "Mature -blam!- Humor" probably alienates a lot of customers ~ not to mention parents are ussually more concerned about that then other things.

However, I do have to admit, Family Guy is worse then that and its TV 14

I thought it was funny, but C-A-D has yet to make me laugh. It's one of those things that are popular because it got a little popularity and snowballed. It's kind of like Hanna Montana.

As for the topic; it wasn't that bad at all. I don't think anything is really going to get resolved here.

I'm going to have to go with this.
Even though there is "adult" humor in the movie, it isn't something you won't find on TV. The rule in question deals with adult content to a much more severe degree than what was shown.

I disagree. I've never seen something like that on TV (unless you're counting PPV and separately-purchased movie channels).
I don't think at all that posting a link to that content breaks Bungie's own rules, but still.

I like how no one here is respecting anyone with more strict standards.
It doesn't break the rules, but I still find it offensive and hate the fact that it is posted. And I see some of the most idiotic replies I've ever seen here. That's because people are assuming that their standards for a website are the standards that everyone should have. That everyone else's morals, standards, and beliefs are somehow inferior.

Because everyone addressing the people who were offended by the video is making fun of them, laughing at them as if they were inferior and their standards are wrong, addressing each other as "we," part of Bungie, while calling them "you," calling them "lame crybaby's," and you know what that is? One group thinking they're more superior than another? Well, you should know what that is.

This thread does not make me happy. At all.

Subject: Some Clarification:

From ESRB.org:
MATURE
Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexul content and/or strong language.
ADULTS ONLY
Titles rated AO (Adults Only) have content that should only be played by persons 18 years and older. Titles in this category may include prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexul content and nudity.

The key word being MATURE. If you are mature you are mature... usually this happens by 17 sometimes earlier. Your parent/guardian can make that call.
As others have said this site is based on an M rated game. It and it's content (hosted or linked) will be of the same nature, Mature.

Per the ESRB definition this "sexul content" is not graphic, extended, or nekid.

IMHO Is is your job as a parent to make sure you don't walk in on your kid watching that.

I am 95% sure if your game doesn't have "-blam!- Themes" or "Mature Humor" you can't add that to the game itself, w/o being sued by angry parents, and angering the ESRB. If something like this had been DLC, there would have been, a big ass problem. You can't add extra stuff.... not already in the content descriptors.

However, this is 'online" and all online games state "game experience may change in online play".

Notice the "may not" be peoples ~ its the parents call if its an M game. If its AO, then yes its the parent's call, but only irresponsible parents make that call.
