Battle rifle kicks butt, but the AR is whimpy.

the ar was a major part of the game in halo at least keep it in the
game but not make it a primary weapon like if there was a level in a muesam
then in a display there would be our ol' ma5b. and it would be usable.

Everything eventually needs a change the new battle rifle is perfect for a new strategy with weapons in halo 2.

Wouldn't it be a little unrealistic for the main weapon of the UNSC (which I thought was the Assault Rifle) to dissapear completely and be replaced by a weapon with a different role, namely the Battle Rifle? Although I'm not a huge fan of the AR, I'd like to see it in the game if just for the sake of continuity between the games.

Including the assault rifle along with the battle rifle I think would be a waste of time.

I just really enjoyed the AR's BEEF and don't particularly like the slimmed-down BR that's all over the new screens n' stuff. I liked the grip, similar to that of a modern FNP-90, but the new BR is skimpy and looks like it might just *snap* under the force of one of the new melee combos. Still seems to have a lot of potential, though.

The AR was the basis of the marine's arsenal on Halo, but we must remember that Earth is the LAST STAND for mankind, and we'll need the best military weaponry can offer, so we may see the BR more often than not in Halo II.

Peace, i'm outta here.

i think they should keep the assault rifle in the game anyways cause u never kno when u might need it, even though its pretty weak, it can whipe out anything with no shields at close range,

yea, they should definitly keep it

The AR could be just a naval weapon, while the BR is more suited for ground combat. think about it you have no need for zoom on a cramped ship and you would want to be able to spray lead at anyone trying to board, theres the AR for you.
the HK mp5 has plenty of variations such as MP5N (N for navy) Mp5k (K for kurtz, short in German) and the Mp5SD (for silenced) the AR could easily be the naval verion of the BR without affecting continuity.

i really like the BR because of the zoom feature

The AR is MC's official gun in Halo. It would be ashame to see it go.

OK the AR is a good weapon... shot up a guy and hit him running he's gone!

I have never played with the BR... have any of you?

But I can see them leaving out the AR... the US did it to the M16A1 when they went to
Vietnam. The whole Mil. went over to the M16A2. (Or something along those lines...)

i would rather use an empty needler as a club than use the assault rifle. i dislike using it that much. especially in multiplayer. when you start out with AR and pistol i always use pistol even close range and the AR is the first weapon i get rid of. bring that battle rifle on.

As long as the SMG(s) have it's job covered I don't see why they would leave it in. The Battle Rifle looks like it could be an actual weapon, I like it a lot more.

But it wouldn't bother me at all if they keep it in. As long as you start every mission with a BR.

for people who think the AR is useless (i know thats not everyone) try when firing to swing it up and down at a target rather than from side to side, works for me : )

I prefer Battle Rifle, generally I don't like Assault Rifle so much, because it doesn't target so good. I prefered Shotgun and Sniper at Halo: Combat Evolved. No Assault Rifle.

I'd say both - they're completely different weapons, both great in their own ways.

I voted to leave the AR out of Halo 2, just because the SMG is at least as good at the AR and is IMO almost the same weapon with another look. I'd like to see the pistol again, though. Just because it aims very good and would be great to have in combo with a plasma weapon. But even if they leave the pistol too, I wouldn't really miss it, because I think the BR is at least twice as cool as the AR and pistol together! (just look at it when zoomed, looks really cool IMO !)

Oh and for the people who would miss old weapons: you can always still play Halo: Combat Evolved, no? The fact that Halo 2 is much better doesn't make Halo 1 less good, does it?

I think the AR should stay as the standard infantry weapon. I mean yes we are at a last stand but UNSC HQ is in Africa. Which means we are poor. Plus having a completley new weapon requires extensive training. and the UNSC just doesnt have that capability. Plus it would put a horrendous strain on all of gun manufacturers as this new weapon would cost a tremendous amount of money. To me it kicks ass, add it in. But only say 1out of 9 marines should have it. Like a specialist with that weapon. That would add a unreal sense of realism to the game. and the AR was extremley good in close quarters it was actually the weapon-of-choice for me in most instances.
