Hi, this is my first time in the Bungie boards, but I presume this is the right place for this. I recently changed the live ID that was associated with my gamertag on my 360, and the change seems to be fine on xbox.com. Unfortunately, when I log in here with my first ID, my gamertag isn't linked, and therefore, my stats aren't there. So, naturally, I think I have to log-in with my new ID and link my tag, but I now have to create a new account for this. Unfortunately, I can't use the same username as this one. So I guess I have a couple of questions- If I delete this account, can I start the new one with this same username? If not, do I just create a new account with my new ID, pick a username, and call it good? My gamertag is also ryanoxerous, fyi. Thanks.

The exact same thing happened to me. I don't recommend deleting it.
All that would accomplish is simply deleting the account that most of your posts were made with, and your reputation on the forums would be zeroed.
I reccomend just waiting it out. 30 days might seem like a long time, but patience is easily rewarded.

I really don't have a rep on these forums, as that was my first post, so I don' mind that. But if you're telling me that that my new ID will be linked to my gamertag within 30 days automatically, then I can wait it out.

Also, how does one delete an account? Just curious, thanks.

Phrog pilots, reckless and free. We would strap into our birds, set the engines on fire, and leave these earthly bonds with a chorus of WHOP WHOP WHOP. Akin to beating your chest and howling in defiance at the rest of the world.

Unless things have changed, a deleted account has to rot for a certain time before the name can be used again. So, to be able to use this same name on a new account you would first need this account to die a slow death of inactivity. (Six months now I think.) After that there is an established time before the name can be used again without coming up as taken. In other words, it might be a long time before you can use ryanoxerous as your name on a new Bungie.net account. Better to come up with a simliar name to your liking on the Live ID you recently changed. :)

All you have to do is access your gamertag's Account Management. Once there, change your current WLID of your gamertag to the WLID you use to sign into the Bungie.net account, ryanoxerous. If successfully completed, the next time you sign into Bungie.net you will see that your gamertag is linked to your Bnet account, both with the same name. If you have any further questions, please feel free to send me a private message and I will be more than glad to help with what I can. You may also visit this thread here for more information regarding how to change your WLID of your gamertag, along with the affects it has on personal information.
