Happy New Year everyone. My first New Year's resolution was to send out avatar prizes.. and I'm happy to report that THEY ARE BEING MAILED TODAY. Seriously. You know it's going to happen because it's now in the hands of our hardworking reliable uber-admin Amanda. All chances of me mucking things up have been removed and your prizes are safely in her hands.
Everyone who won one of the main prizes (and who actually got back to me with a mailing address) can expect their prize to go out today. Consolation prizes for runner-ups haven't been mailed yet as I don't have stuff readily available. We'll see what I can dig up, but since you weren't specifically promised anything, my priority are the winners.
Also, as a small consolation, I've thrown a few extra items into each person's prize package. Does this make up for a 6 month delay? Not really, but I figured it couldn't hurt. Other than that, you'll get the prize that was originally promised to you. The Bungie.net shirts aren't quite the same as the ones for sale online - they have the Bungie.net launch date on them and were created as a commemorative shirt for our internal web team. Unfortunately, sizes are somewhat scarse but I've tried to get you the size you requested or the next closest thing.
Guys, I know this has been pretty crummy to wait this long for your prizes. We've done a number of contests here on Bnet and while we've never been known to get things out "quickly", this instance was inexcusible. Halo 2 development, release and the holidays along with our day-to-day chaos made this slip through the cracks. Yes, stosh was here a while ago and did try to help but then things slipped off the radar again. I wish I could blame this on him, but sadly the blame is my own.
Please accept my apologies for this delay and don't let this taint your willingness to get involved in future Bungie.net contests. We've actually got a few we're cooking up right now and I can assure you the prizes will be received in a reasonable manner. =) Also, we hope to have the ability to issue online gift certificates to the Bungie Store soon, which will help give us a lot more flexibility when it comes to prizes.
Thanks for hanging in there and your continued support of Bungie and Bungie.net!
Does this mean you'll be posting the tenth anniversary Marathon contest on the news page some time soon?
