You can't bring religion into this, it's against the rules.

What about cults? :)

When there is a will there is way. I have no fear of bannage, I just want some freedom of speech and people that have similar thoughts as mine to discuss in a mature manner.

You mean to say that you're going to break the rules because you can?

Then don't expect a warm welcome from anyone. Not to say you won't get one, just don't be expecting it. The rules here are meant to be followed.

Oh great this was a meaningful thread, now you've all damaged it. it was about remebering lost lives now it's about bending/breaking rules.

Just stay away from Religion Kung -- Politics is frowned upon as well.

If it was anyone's fault for "not being prepared", it's those people living/vacationing there. They knew the risks involved, and if they didn't then they weren't responsible in choosing a living area. These weren't just poor little lean-to villages, these were resort towns as well.

Poignant Thought = Good
Political Discussion = Bad
Religious Type Talk = Bad
Ninjas = dangerous....

Might I add that the ideal of free speech doesn't apply to internet forums - which are extraterritorial. They're privately owned servers, so you are only allowed the rights granted to you.

I'll just be my self till I get banned.

But, what else do you talk about in an Off-Topic forum?

If moderators ban me for saying such a thing, I really think that this wouldn't be the brightest place to be.

Religion and politics aren't the only subjects in the world.

Look, Kung. If you don't like the rules, don't bother the moderators. Just go.

I have nothing against the rules.

They are there, I dont mind them, they dont mind me.

As for no freedom of speech.

Without freedom of speech there is no forum, there is no Opinions.

This thread is still meaningful for all those who see its not.

EDIT:

If you're afraid of me spamming the forums, I wont do that, I will do quiet the opposite.

Discuss the rules in The Septagon, _Kung.

Ok, lets get back on topic.

I think it people should pay at least 1 minutes silence on New Years Eve, to show respect to the people who couldn't live to celebrate it. It's just rude to not pay respect. Heck. All of you guys got worked up about Xeroh contemplating suicide, when most of you (including me) barely even knew her. It should at least strike your mind to take 1 minute out of your day just to think about those people.

I think it would indeed be respectful, but there's no cause to get worked up over the fact that people aren't getting more concerned, I would be more concerned, except I know that they had foreknowledge of the ability of that region for natural disaster.

I wouldn't expect the word to hold still if an Earthquake killed that many, I'd expect people to respect the area they live in --

People have been worried about this planet for years -- "Oh my gosh, we're destrying the ozone, we're depleting natural resources Hey, I thought that was why it was called a "resource", we're polluting the oceans."

This planet has been around for a couple billion years. We're no threat to it. If anything, the tsunami here proves my theory that when the planet is tired of us, it'll shrug us off like a bad cold.

GameJunkieJim: What ever happened to Human's being greedy?

What, is 100 thousand lives fallen not enough to make you the slightest bit sad?

No Ofcourse not!

Because we are Human's and we respect the place we live in that had just destroyed cities that we spent millions of dollars creating.

NO! WE DONT CARE ABOUT THE DEATHS THAT THIS PLACE HAS CAUSED WE CARE ABOUT THE MURDERER.

You're speaking as if the earth has a soul, and it has a mind.

You relise you have brought religion into this...

Sorry if i'm being too upfront, but I speak of only whats written in front of me, not whats written in my head.

EDIT:

When was this about helping them! Its about giving a bit of respect to those who are dead.

EDIT2: Spelling.

The whole entire world stopped right in its track's when around 3000 people died in the WTC incident.

How is 3000 people dying worse than over 100 thousand people dying and homes and cities destroyed! Asia is a place that is very short for cash, this disaster absoloutly kills their economy making very hard for them ever to be the same again.

much of the reason the world stopped for Sep. 11 is that it was committed by people. this tsunami, while tragic, was not caused by man. Sep. 11 was focused on because people didn't believe someone could do something so atrocious and evil.

oh, and i do not think we should stop new years celebations because of he disaster. it is important to remember tradgedies such as this, but we shoudn't stop everything to do so. life goes on.

I have not - nor will I bring religion into this -- I'm agnostic anyway, so it wouldn't have any bearing on what you think -- keep religious speak to the PM system.

I never said the earth had a soul or a mind -- it was simply an ill-timed metaphor.

We're animals, pure and simple. I may seem cynical but here's the reality : it's a natural occurence. Nothing I did caused it, nothing you did caused it, nobody caused it. It was a natural event that people were educated about for at least 500 years. I feel pity for them, because of their bad choice, nothing more.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but while it's a nice thought to give respect, they knew the risks involved in living in that area. If I moved to Columbia and got shot, would you give me a nod of respect? I hope not. I would have known the risks inherent in moving there.

They did nothing noteworthy, they were not attacked out of malice, they were simply people. I feel sorry that that's how they had to go, but it's a natural thing. Let it go already. I'm not a bad guy - I'm a realist.

GameJunkieJim: First of all, I know your not a bad guy, I've created this thread just to get a bit of a mature debate around here.

if you got shot in Columbia, I would definatly give you a nod of respect, no questions asked, A human's life is a human's life.

Even if these 100 thousand people wern't killed by another human, they wern't victims of homocide, they still did die, they died for no reason watsoever they were innocent.

If you could tell me one place of the world where you are completely safe, I would applaude you.
