GameJunkieJim: First of all, I know your not a bad guy, I've created this thread just to get a bit of a mature debate around here.

if you got shot in Columbia, I would definatly give you a nod of respect, no questions asked, A human's life is a human's life.

Even if these 100 thousand people wern't killed by another human, they wern't victims of homocide, they still did die, they died for no reason watsoever they were innocent.

If you could tell me one place of the world where you are completely safe, I would applaude you.

I like you, you seem like a good guy. I must hasitily ask you a question before my boss comes in though -
A human's life... Should it be help in higher regard than any other life?? Without bringing religion into it -- it's hard to answer -- but my view is that we're all animals, whether a dog, or a chimp or a mouse or a person. No one life is any different than the other in my opinion. Life is life, death is death.. Death being the great equalizer.
And no one is innocent. You lose the 100% of innocence you may have by 2 years old.

While I think it's nice that you would give me a nod of respect, I don't see why it would be necessary. I would have made a dumb decision, and besides, I'll be dead, so I probably wouldn't care a whole lot!!

Anyway -- I have to work before I get fired... Nice talking with you.

Wow, _Kung has a sense of humor, I thought he was going to go bezerk over those comments. By the way, I don't "party" anymore, so I am in a constant state of reverence. I understand what you are saying, but I do believe it is necessary to help those still living before we can worry about remembering those who are dead (yes, I know that is not what you were going for, it is just what I believe).

Its an honour GameJunkieJim.

As for the question.

If any other animal besides a human can offer as much as human's have given to us in this world.

To its understanding of the Universe to its mass murder's of Jew's by Germans under the reign of Adolf Hitler deserves to live.

I remember Time magazine wanted to Award Osama Bin Ladin person of the Mellenium because he changed the world the most, I would of agreed. He was able to give George W Bush a chance to get what he wanted, easily.

No matter good, no matter bad, If you can change the world as easily as an Human, You deserve to live.

The cow -- the entire economy of the United States wouldn't have gotten such a boost through the fast foot market if it wasn't for a cow. Not to mention leather goods, bullriding, a symbol of strength, of courage.

Humans are adapters, that's our only true advantage.

Thats exactly like George W Bush using Osama bin Ladin, so Yes.

The one that gives the most to the world is worth the most.

How is 3000 people dying worse than over 100 thousand people dying and homes and cities destroyed!

It's not a matter of better or worse. It's a matter of the circumstances surrounding the events. One was nature taking its course, the other was an attack on a peoples way of life. GameJunkieJim has already covered most of what needed to be said on this. If you wanted to make a better argument, I would have used the lack of concern for the genocide that's happening in Sudan.

If every city in the world just had one minutes silence just before the fireworks in rememberance for those who have died in the massive Tsunami that hit Asia would be more than enough.
I have to admit that i've never been a big supporter of "taking a moment of silence." I understand that it is meant as a token of respect and acknowledgement to the parties involved. But to me it trivializes the situation. I fail to see how taking one minute of our lives (be it the first minute of the New Year, or not) to remember what has happened and those lost, and then returning to routine life as if nothing had happened, accomplishes anything. I suppose it's the more practical side of me that says: Instead of taking a moment of silence, why not take a moment... to lend a hand?

If you got shot in Columbia, I would definatly give you a nod of respect, no questions asked, A human's life is a human's life.
You must nod an awful lot.
