Here's my 2 cents, ok maybe 5.This update talks about mauler changes, but it brings up issue that has always boggled me: I've never understood why Bungie feels they need to go in and change stuff, just because people complain it's unlbalanced. I can understand that its tough to kill someone that's good with a particular weapon, but is it possible that maybe these people are complaining because they just aren't as good? The sword in Halo 2 is a good example. I rarely used the sword, but didn't have much of a problem killing someone who tried to hoard it...you can pick up a shotgun and kill him with it, or use grenades and a battle rifle and wham! problem solved! But its frustrating for the more competitive gamers, like myself, when things like the sword, pistol, mauler, etc are changed just so not-so-good gamers can have more fun. Isn't that the point of the rank/level system, so people can play with others of the same skill? I've never played a Halo game (1, 2, or 3) where something just seemed so unbalanced that I complained about it. If I couldn't kill somebody, it was because they were better than me, period. Taking the pistol out of halo 2 was fine, because there was really no point in using other weopans at all in halo (1), but its funny that with all these changes, I still find myself falling back to the same weopans in halo 3: the Battle Rifle, Shotgun, and sniper rifle (though this is way harder to use for some reason now). But this is just my style that I'm used to; the needler is very cool, and people kill me with the carbine, sword, gravity hammer, etc all the time. So yes, people will choose what weapons they want to use, but I think that Bungie forces it on people a little too much by instantly taking something else out just because it seems a bit too powerful or some people are really good with it. I used to use the pistol/smg combo in Halo 2 and then they made the pistol totally worthless and like many weopans just became pointless. The sword is kind of this way now too in Halo 3. I just hope that this slippery slope doesn't continue because eventually there will be close to only one weopan worth using again, and we might as well just start playing Halo (1) again. I say, decide on how to balance the game when creating it (like they do anyway) and then once its created, leave it at that. Gamers are going to complain no matter what, especially when they get beaten, but when you change the game so frequently it just gets frustrating and people can't improve their skills because whenever they face something the can't overcome, bungie just makes it easier for them.
wow i hope u dont think ur complaining u just wrote a -blam!- book on what bungie should and should not do.
instead of spending 15 minutes writing a dam essay why dont u just go play Halo 3 go to hell this guy makes a good point., except the point about ppl beating u sometimes its luck or lag, but yea skil too
