July 15, 2008... The day the timer stood still.

The books will pretty much explain everything about the backstory. Halo: Fall of Reach is an excellant read. It explains the start of the Spartan II program and what happened to all the Spartans. You can probably skip The Flood because its basically Halo 1 in text. But read Halo: First Strike and Halo: Ghosts of Onyx and you'll be pretty much set on backstory.

Havn't read Contact Harvest yet, but I heard it explains a lot too.

Where do I find information on back stories? Like earlier spartans and things of that nature? I just read a nice post on the theory of where MC could be...But couldn't really relate to much of what he had to say because, really I just don't know that much about the different universes and things of that nature, I just play the game. However, I'd like to learn...I'm guessing the books, but how much fill in information do they have?

Great...sounds like I'll have plenty of hours on my hands reading...something that I've never liked but hey...if it gets me more in touch with my inner spartan..*chuckles*

**edit** Which order should they be read? I've never looked into them, but knew they existed.

To play or not to play....

Fall of Reach
Halo - Flood (if you really want to read it -you can miss this one and not miss much)
Ghost of Onyx
Contact Harvest

Though check out wikipedia and google for tons of information. I did a bit of that before reading any of the books and I found tons of information. Though admitedly the books helped make sense of it all :p
