Okay, so I've gotten a lot of help from all of the build-your-own-pc guides on these forums, especially with advice on CPU's and such (thanks to those who wrote them!). Anyone out there who has a lot of experience, please check my system specs to make sure I have compatible hardware.

Abit Motherboard socket 939 ATX and AMD Athalon 64 3500+
The processor is self explanatory. The motherboard has 5 PCI and 1 AGP 4x/8x. Supports dual channel DDR400 184-pin, has hypertransport, 10/100/1000 ethernet, Serial ATA support, and plenty of usb/firewire goodies. This is actually a package deal, so I'm positive that they are compatible - just wodnering on the motherboard quality.

Arctic Cooling cpu fan
Anything up to Athalon XP 5000+, 2200 RPM, 32 CFM

MGE Ninja Case
450 watt power supply, mid tower ATX, very cool looking with side window and led fans/lights everywhere.

Seagate HD
160GB, 7200 RPM, 8 MB buffer, SATA-150

Corsair Dual Channel 1024
2x512 MB, DDR400, 184-pin

ATI Radeon 9800XT
I can't afford the x series, but I've wanted this card anyway. 256MB, of course.

Sound Blaster Audigy LS
well, I already have this anyway. Also have 5.1 Surround.

Plextor DVD+/-RW
SATA, 12x DVD+ write, etc. Fast enough for me.

I've got the keyboard/mouse and a CRT monitor.

How does it look? I'm open to lots of help. Thanks in advance.

Okay, cool. I spent a while (2 hours) shopping around and worked hard to get everything to match. I'm pretty sure everything is good...

Make sure your cpu fan is compatable with your mobo. You have an amdXP fan for and amd64 board. They're not the same thing.

btw good choice on the card.

Heyyo,

What he means is for the fan, it has to be Socket 939 compatible. Cause the different sizes might throw it off, but I kindof doupt it since most heatsinks have an adjustable clip...

The only real tip I can give you is soundblasters hate being near other cards, so I keep mine near the bottom of the case.

For your videocard? I suggest just getting the ATI Radeon 9800 PRO, you'll save quite a bit of cash, and the preformance difference is pretty minimal.

Here's a prime example, on Far Cry? look at that, the gap is like 5F/S. For that small of a gap? it should only cost an extra $20 at the most, but the price they're asking now? not worth it... save that extra cash for some games or somethin'. ;)

Thanks guys. I'll get the right fan, thanks for catching that.

Woof, for the extra 60+ the xt seems like a joke. I'll get the pro. I checked other games and found they're benchmarks are pretty much the same.

Heyyo,

Lol, I know, that price is rediculous eh? I think that card was made to screw over people who don't pay attention to details and don't ask around for help. Luckly, you're enlightened and seeked advice and detail, so you're saved. ;)

All they really did for that was install higher quality parts and raise the clock speeds. You could always just install some good cooling methods in your case like thermal pads and extra fands and achieve the same thing by overclocking your videocard. :p
