For base titles, does the more PPD you make increase your chances of being promoted? Or is it just sign in and post a little for the given amount of time?
I'm not talking about prefixes.
Yes, up to a certain degree. A user (whose Bungie.net profile was linked sometime back) reached Heroic after approximately 1-2 months of joining; at a PPD > 80. What was more important, is that the user kept this level of activity constant for this period of time. It seems as if rapid changes of activity will not get you to a title as quickly when compared to someone who is keeping their activity at a constant level.
Age has to be taken into consideration, too. There most likely may be a parameter set which prevents a user from reaching a certain title - no matter how much they post or are active - until they reach this [X] year mark. I'm pretty sure we are yet to see members reach Legendary before their one year mark, which is odd considering some of these users appear to be extremely active.
All in all a number of factors appear to be taken into consideration before one transcends titles including: age, activity (in the form of posting, signing on, creating threads, participating in groups, ect), and even as far as having a linked gamertag. So while there may appear to be a correlation between PPD and base titles, we can't assume that it is basically the only cause.
