I think the system tries to exclude sporadic posting so that people don't spam the forums in order to get a prefix.
Highly doubt that.
You have no reason to. It's not complex. I think it's a range. I went bat-blam!- and posted a thread a minute and didn't get anything; I chilled out and got Intrepid out of nowhere. I was so shocked.
I think this quote has relevance here, except instead of bans/warnings with post count.

Additionally, it was self correcting - a trusted user acting badly lost his trust upon being banned or warned, so any outliers were quickly dealt with, by design.I think it's purely that you reached the amount needed to gain the title.
You didn't post at a rate that was extravagant for a particularly long amount of time so one can assume that that shortened period of heightened activity plus two prolonged periods of lesser activity (before and after the heightened activity) would equate to the intrepid prefix.
Keep in mind that the level of posts required to reach intrepid is rather daunting considering it usually takes people years to reach (with a post count of 8-18 ppd, which I'm guessing is average from seeing people's ppd), so the fact that you've reached it in less than 2 years is deviating from the norm quite a bit.
If you had been posting at 50+ ppd for 2 years straight and then calmed down to 10-15 for a month and suddenly received intrepid or fabled, then there would be a discussion to be had.
But, unfortunately, I think that the small amount of time you've been on the sight is not enough to gauge whether or not this condition on the intrepid and fabled prefixes exists based on your own experiences.
