Gah. I dislike the Fabled prefix. I wish you could cycle through prefixes you qualify for. Or maybe have Fabled/Intrepid lower on the list.

Well Fabled is high on the list because you are constantly active. The age related prefixes can be obtained by just coming back here after a few years. Provided they are not exalted.

I am active but i have been able to some how not get those ... most people say they are bad titles.

5-6 years should overwrite activity based titles, in my opinion. Very few people who qualify for them have not already qualified or a higher ranking title.

You know what... I question if post count has any direct effect on trust rating. I think it's likely to be more relative to other metrics, such as the size of your posts, how many characters you've wrote down, how unique what you've wrote was, &c.

I don't know... but the idea that post count alone determines a large amount of trust never really stuck to me. The system feels more complex, and is said to be even more complex than it feels.

Obviously, posting more often (and "on a more regular basis") does and should effect trust rating, like how killing an enemy gives you points. I'm pondering that it effects it in a more complex way, like how killing a grunt yields less points than assassinating a brute chieftain... or how killing sprees and multikills also multiply your point score... or how killing the same type of enemy (in other games) gives you less points.

Blargh.

I think you are thinking about it to hard.. there is no possible way the system could be that complex nor why would they make it... just saying that what you write makes a difference is crazy.

I highly doubt any trust rating is affected by your post's length. That is usually something that would be annoying to rig with forum software, especially with software this outdated.

I also doubt that your rank has (or had) much to do with your in-game activities. Now, sure I can see a couple things like playing the game on a regular basis, but again, that would be something difficult to do. A system too heavily dependent on the Matchmaking stats would probably drop a huge load on the servers anyway. Any link your rank and the games had is now severed though, so even if the system did work like that, it doesn't anymore.

I suspect the trust system is much more simple than any of us think it is and that Achronos is just being a bit theatrical.

They are attainable (at least Intrepid) by posting in groups so I sort of agree with you there.

I don't mean to say that it has to do with your posts' length (that was an example of "other metrics") or game activity, although it's funny to note that trust does have some metrics of game activity, but that was a metaphor for what I was saying (I was saying that trust gained from posting is like points gained by killing enemies in a video game).

A system can be simple, in a way, and complex in another way. It can be quickly set up, perform well, and still be confusing to others. Much like a complex math equation is easy to write up, but difficult to figure out without knowing the variables and barely knowing any data points... as trust is basically a math equation.

He says in-game participation, like just playing a game every once in a while. Points for killing different types of enemies is a bit of an extreme. Also, titles can no longer be linked to the games now. Bungie has no access to Halo stats.

And what I'm saying is that the system is guided by a few simple metrics like post count, join date, bans, steady PPD, if you sign in every day, etc. and people are just trying to make it more complicated than it really is.

I can't reitterate enough that I've never, ever, even considered that trust rating has a direct connection to a user's online rank or total points... NEVER! You know what I mean, metaphor?! *rage* :D And Bungie still has access to Halo stats, they've merely been frozen.

Sure, that's possible. I would never say that my theory is indeed the way titles work, because it's a theory.

Well, it seems you don't quite understand what a metaphor is, but whatever. On the subject of Halo stats, they aren't frozen, they're archived.

A metaphor is a literary figure of speech that describes a subject by asserting that it is, on some point of comparison, the same as another otherwise unrelated object? And "frozen" means the same thing as "archived.

If you become more active in the forums, you should get Mythic fairly quick since you have really good account age.

Post at least once a day and you'll get a permanent Heroic/Legendary/Mythic one day.

Well, you were using the term incorrectly, as you were not using anything as a metaphor. And frozen means updated date is only stopped and and suggest that they still have access to real time data or the old data is being pulled live from their servers. Archived means that it's all thy have left and it is no longer connected to anything.

On a side note my Legendary's back.

I know, it'll just be a while. I've been banned twice, the last being in early February, and about a week ago my Heroic just disappeared.

I know the bottom line is to post regularly, along with other criteria, which I have met, it just seems like it's taking a while compared to when I initially got Legendary. Eh, at least I know now that even taking a slight chance at flaming the OP isn't worth it.

I just sit down when my back starts aching...and then I start telling stories about "back in my day."

Back in my day we didn't have chairs to sit down on and tell stories.

I know titles usually fluctuate before becoming permanent, does anyone have any idea how long this takes?

It's understandable. I've been in the same "mood". It's a bit tough in times of low activity.

I didn't think they were ever permanent, I thought you could lose them at any time due to inactivity.
