Yeah me neither.

Well, I think that every month the system looks at each member and thier ban history/activity/trust rating and other such things and decides wether to ignore them, or give them a promotion or demotion given on the given factors.

So a boost on the 1st on any given month is when the system gives the updates? I can see that.

Well, it's not confirmed but after recent events it does seem that way. On top of that are other promotion factors which promote people randomly, or demote people randomly on a system that we don't really know of.

Agreed. Your theory's seem to make perfect sense.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Well test it then, decide on an amount of posts and be sure to get them posted everday for a month and then we'll see. Lets say 20 posts a day?

Titles fluctuate daily, but usually a bulk or mass of the members receive new titles on the first, I did when I was promoted a while back.

I used to be Mythic I was not active for quite awhile so my title dropped to Heroic. I started posting more and quickly it went to legendary. Then the prefixes were introduced and now I have been at Exalted Legendary Member ever since.
I seem to remember a long time ago when just about everyone was given a higher title (or raised a title) because of some bug. That was fixed and everyone went back. I also believe that after prefixes were introduced, something was tweaked in the system to stabilize it somwhat.

That actually sounds like a great idea Ivor. We should put together a test. I was promoted to Intrepid Member on July 30th. I'll go back and figure out how many posts I've had each day since then. I sign in every day. I think I've averaged 20-30 posts a day since I got a 3-day ban a few weeks back. Then, come the 1st of September we will see if anything happens.

Now, of course this isn't the most reliable way to test this, because another factor is your trust rating, but we might as well try it out.

I might be mistaken, but I'm almost positive that one has to be more than just a little active in the public forums to receive the Intrepid or Fabled prefix. Posting however many times a day in just the public forums probably won't do the job. If anything, shoot for numerous posts in both public and group forums for whatever period of time you decide on. I only say this because of the time when I couldn't do anything but post 20-30+ times a day. With a broken thumb, I was pretty limited for about a month, and did nothing but post. Nearly all of it was within private groups, though. I could be wrong, but those posting numbers seem like they'd fit the bill for Intrepid at the least.

Simply put- include private groups. Chances are you won't get anywhere without doing so, and it's not like you'll die if you do, right? ;-)

Quick question: Not counting rank demotions, has anyone ever jumped multiple ranks in one day? Such as, going from heroic to mythic, or member to legendary.

Well I have heard of Duardo doing that. I believe that's what he said? I think he went from member to Mythic in a day.

But I have gone from "Member" to "Legendary Member" in 4 days.

Same thing happend to me.

I went on vacation for a week, and before I left I was banned and only a "Member" I got back and I was Intrepid Legendary.

That wouldn't work. If you were banned, you wouldnt rank up that fast.
See bans directly affect your title, so a 7 day ban could affect your title for about 3 months.

That's what happened with me, I posted in the wrong forum, and I was banned for 7 days.
During that time of me being banned, I would have been promoted to "Heroic Member" but because of the ban.. I wasn't.
Then within the 3 months of the still lasting effect of the ban I was promoted to "Legendary Member" But it only gave me "Heroic Member" until the bans lasting effects wore of 2 days later.

Yeah me neither.

I have been posting consistently for awhile now not to get a rank but because I want to post. So if was going to be promoted it would have happened already.

Not sure how long I have been active recently but it has definitely been for more than one month. Not sure what my average post's per day is either.

I think at one point when Reiginko was kind of active he went from Member to Mythic or Heroic to Mythic.

I figured. I imagine it is unlikely (impossible?) for a person to jump titles without already having a high trust rating.

Most of it probably has to do with account age, along with a lack of bans, or just one or two short ones. The older your account is with few or no bans, the easier it would be to regain a title. So, you could technically jump titles if your account was really old, and you didn't post on it until it was about to be deleted. Gaining a title with an old account after a long period of inactivity doesn't seem like it's too much work at all.

I have a feeling that when you say There are likely other factors (but we'll never know), that mods may be able to promote or have a vote on if someone is a Legendary or Mythic member.

  • 08.12.2009 9:41 AM PDT

I found it weird that after i came back from a week of inactivity i was promoted to honorable member. I think it may be possible that if you have steady activity for a few months and then take a week off your chances of promotion will increase. This is just a theory and is probably is incorrect, but who knows?

I'm afraid it doesn't work like that, its all automated and dependant on other factors.
