This faq just cleared up a lot for those of us that aren't really informed on the system. Thanks for the help Duarda now I can tell my friends were to go to look up the forum ranking system instead of bugging me.

EXTREME PREJUDICE

I can't believe people are hitting Legendary after only year these days.

It used to be alot longer than that.

I believe that is because last November, when the prefixes were implemented, the title system was made a lot less competitive.

To my understanding, before the update, everyone was in "competition" with each other for a title based on a set maximum determined by both join date and activity. Now the "competition" has been divided up into tiers/groups so that the competing is among members and their "similar peers".

Posted by: Achronos
No, the same 4 ranks are there as before. What's changed is that there are 9 new "prefixes" that can be applied, each with different criteria. The only other thing that's changed with titles is that the math that selects the base title is significantly different, most notably in that it isn't based on a relative maximum anymore, but specific "tiers" (making things a bit less random)...

The beginning effect was that there was a lot less elevated titles... but now that the system has been around for a while, all of the "Halo 3" members are reaching the elevated titles and producing somewhat of a "baby-boomer" effect.

It wouldn't surprise me if the title system receives another change here pretty soon to account for the huge influx of elevated titles.

I'm sure there are alot more members and the forums are alot more active than before?? Even when i joined just after halo 3 release it wasn't as active as it is now!

I support MLG.
I support Flag-Running
I support BR
I support non-broken gameplay

I do not support the AR.

I'm not sure that Heroic or Legendary has very much to do with how long you've been an active member.

I've been a fairly active member since March of 2008, just a bit short of 2 years, and I'm not even Heroic - which is supposed to be 6-12 months.

I'm not really that active but i've made 300 posts since 4th sept. I think there's a daily average of posts and then your posts per day gets compaired to that!?

You and me both. I think the "Noble" title is just related to bans; we both have been active for 2 years without bans. Whereas, the color bar (Heroic, Leg, etc) may be related to how many threads you have created. I have created none, so I can only assume that is the reason.

I've only created a few, so that could be it.

Unlikely. I have only created a single thread in the public forums.

My guess is that it has to do with consistency. Are both of you erratic posters, posting a lot for a small period of time then taking a break for a while?

I agree that threads wouldn't play a part in your title, if so it would only play a tiny part.

I'm arguing with myself over whether consistancy plays a big factor or not, I just wouldn't have a clue.

From my observation titles seem to be most liable to change at the beginning of each month. I maintained a mythic bar with minimal activity for several weeks and it was only when users started shifting on the first of the month that I went down.

With this in mind I would say that keeping activity high in the last week of a month is the most crucial in maintaining/gaining a title bar, the rest of the month has a much smaller effect.

I for one was an extremely consistent poster for the first year and a half up until around June of this year. Then, I took a break during the Summer. I'm still not sure why I'm still a member. I always thought it was just because I have never created my own topic.

You get the 'noble' prefix with around 2 years membership, with reguards to creating threads being linked to status i don't think this is the case. I haven't created a thread in at least 6-8 months or even a year and i've gone up from member to heroic and then legendary!

Now that I think about it, my first post actually came in June of '08, which just so happens to be around of this year when I took a break from this site. So maybe I just didn't get that full year of forum activity. Either way, I still think I should be a Heroic member. Though, I really don't care that much about my title.

There shouldn't be a problem with you being a heroic member all you really need to do is post consistantly for a while.

So I was an Intrepid Member a minute ago and it disappeared after I unlinked my Bnet Profile, was that a coincidence or is that connected?

Yeah, It is said that linking/unlinking your gamertag effects your title. I don't know why though. :/
