Apparently doing an inordinate amount of lurking followed by posting in sporadic instances over the course of many years is a great way to gain titles and whatnot.

Does PMing a ninja to report a thread or user increase a users trust score( or whatever it's called)?

you can still get banned for mis-use of the report function!!
I actually didn't know that, thanks. But I only report innaproprite threads, not personal stuff.

I don't think PMing a ninja does anything for your trust rating, although i doubt that hitting the report would do you any harm! Of course this doesn't mean you go out and report everything, you can still get banned for mis-use of the report function!!

I am aware of that. It is just that i achieved my honorable member title before the 1 year marker. And it happened after i had sent a PM to a ninja about some vulgar linking.

Worked out great so far. Exalted and legendary right now. I just need to hang around for a while longer and there's probably a good chance of ranking up again. On the other hand, posting a lot seems to work well too.

Ugh, I just remembered that I had a ban on Bungie Day. How long now before I reach Heroic?

We don't know, we can guess. My guess would be about 2/3 months of great contribution to the forums (Mains/Private Groups).

A ban normally takes around 3 months to wear off, if you've remained active through out this time you should get it back within a few months.

Reach MMO. Here's to hoping.

And the people that believe "the hardcore playlists would be more popular if the rules were strictly MLG" can come off it, now. If you're not willing to support something close to your own setup, there's no reason for us to believe that cloning our own lists and stripping the variety down will attract more people. -- Shishka, Bungie.net

Can someone explain to me how I can be an exalted legendary member?

Exalted - 3 years without ban

Legendary - 1-2 years active member

Uh? If I have been on for over 3 years shouldn't I be Mythic?

Just wondering?
The title system is more specific than being "active" helping out and the works, keep doing the stuff now and you will be well on your way to Mythic. Also this thread is not completely accurate.

Beat Kendog.

Someone must be messing with me, because I just dropped to Heroic member.

Anyone have an explanation for that!?!

I have no clue why it was dropped for.

Who knows? I would hazard a guess that some heroic members have been promoted and because only a certain percentage of members can be legendary some members have been demoted, just be a good member and you'll get it back.

Uh, then why did you post?

To answer the question, I guess it's just inactivity.

I believe your trust rating is always getting lower, and every post gives it a small boost back up, then continues to go back down. You probably didn't post enough to keep the trust rating at a steady level.

As I said, it's just a guess. We still don't know much about the factors that go into the title system.

Just like an overheating gun turret. This is a part which I considered aswell, but I think it would be pretty complex to do. But I guess it could be possible.

I dont know what you mean by that.

I see Heroic, Legendary, and Mythic as "Titles."
I see Honourable, Exalted, and such as "Prefixes."
So what I'm saying is that your join date only affects titles such as Elder and Senior. If this goes with my theory, then this value is low compared to your post count, your ban history, and such.

I would have to disagree. You are trying to explain a multi-layered system by only taking a look at one aspect of it through a very small sample size. There could be an abundant amount of reasons why your sample size didn't show a correlation between join dates and base titles.

I added a ban/warning history to that, and I am collecting a larger sample, by whoever posts in this thread(It's gonna take a while). Hopefully I can get info on people's ban/warning history.

This might lead to a mathematical way of the system, by collecting random data, such as % of population that is each "Title."

It depends.

How long was the ban for? The effects of a 3-day ban won't be the same as, say a week-long ban. It's not possible for one to predict exactly when someones' title will change, but the more information that's given about a ban in this case, the more accurate a prediction might be.

The only problem with that is that it would be extremely difficult to record the effects of "immediate peers" and other constantly changing factors that indirectly affect the titles, such as the creation of new accounts (population growth over the study period).

I honestly think that the system is too dynamic to really get any solid and definite numbers from it. The Web Team was really smart in the way they designed the base title system, since it's practically unmanipulatable. The best we can do is try to at least get a basic understanding of what causes the system to do certain things, but even having that information doesn't get a member any closer to an elevated title.
