so because i dont feel like going through this entire thread, why did I lose my "heroic" status?
Maybe it would benefit you if you at least read the OP and some comments through out the thread. Maybe you lost it because you got a ban/warning, maybe because you were inactive for a while or maybe because your daily post count average fell below the community average?? Who knows all we can do is speculate at the minute!

Im sorry I should have clearified, I read the OP and could not find a reason. I must have missed the part about daily post count being above the community average, but i have not gone inactive or received a ban.

I'm not saying that those are the answers because no one really knows what does effect your title apart from a few obvious things??

As the OP states, Title promotions and demotions are also affected by things that are not known to the Community outside of Bungie Employees. It just says that PPD and Ban History/Frequency are a factor in Titles.

It seems people who joined in Jan. of 08 are now Legendary. Kendog and Lord. I joined in Jan, so my theory is that if I stay active with groups and forums I can become Legendary?

Thats all it takes?
I've been here since I think March of 08.
I'm not even heroic yet.
I'm fairly sure thats because I took a long break from B.net over the summer break, and I'm fine with that.
I should be heroic, maybe legendary, by the time reach comes out.

You could easily become Heroic with that join date. There's just some underlying factors.

Would you think logging in and viewing threads could be a factor? I haven't been posting for four days majorly but have been logging in two times a day and just viewing on threads, and I'm Heroic just over the member status yet I didn't go down. Just a thought.

Maybe. I think just logging in, is a factor.

Does anyone know if the titles changes at a certain time of day, or can it happen anytime?

There was a theory that most changes happen in between times of inactivity, like when you sign out at night and then sign in the first time the next day you'll see your new prefix/title then. That's what's happened to me both times I've went up so I think it's plausible.

That sounds right, last night I was a Member and this morning I had been promoted to Heroic.

Hmm i just had a thought. Well its been established that most bans wear off in a certain amount of time. What about a permanent ban though ? I was banned permanently, but later appealed. Could this mean the effects of that ban never wear off ? Assuming certain bans and there "wear off time" is based on a percentage; you can't have a percentage of infinity. Could this mean i could never become legendary or mythic ? *takes several pills*

I am not sure. Maybe the Ban History that is recorded takes note of the severity of the ban, and decides weather or not the new title would be appropriate, based on a percentage that tags along with the Ban Severity. Maybe not a percentage of infinity, but 100% instead, means permanent, with different weighting applying to each ban type/length.

I think they just happen when they happen to be honest although my changes normally occur when i've logged off and then back on a few hours later.

Like I said, Achronos mentioned it is calculated daily, but not updated at the same time. For example, when your Title is calculated, and it says it's time to go up in Title, then it can happen at different times. My friend got to Legendary, then the next day I did. I saw the same thing happening for other people who joined in the mid '08.

Any percentage of infinity is infinite percent.

Just wondering, do the titles have to go in that order or is it possible to skip titles?

Are you talking titles or prefixes?
I don't know if anyone has gone from Member straight to Legendary or from Heroic right to Mythic.

Yes, but it has only been observed in long term members who are returning after a period of inactivity and members who just recovered from the effects of a ban/warning.

*Waves arms*

I have never been Heroic (with the grey title bar, I was once before a ban in Jan '08).

I once jumped from Intrepid Member to Intrepid Legendary member, then I became Mythic the following day.

Another time I went from Intrepid Member right to Intrepid Mythic and then became Fabled a few days later.

It usually happens to older accounts which have suffered a few blacklists. When the bans expire the account usually rockets through the ranks on the first of a month.

I went from Member to Legendary Member about a week and a half ago, so it is possible. I've had 2 or 3 bans in my history. I think it's because my PPD is ~15. :\

When did the titles start? Was it late 2007? It seems that the trust rating was retroactive, or at least some aspects of it were. I'm sure that affected the accounts that skipped titles.

That only means there's something else that contributes. I don't know why.
