To become an absent member do you have to go without posting, or logging in for a certain time? Also does anyone know the time before you become absent?
From what I've heard, it's about one month or so. But don't wo wand weave us. :(

I believe it's 2 months without logging on.

I never have understood why so many people care about their title. It really does nothing for you but to anger you when you go down in rank...
Only mythics act like they don't care.

2 months of not logging in is what it seems to take for gaining the Absent prefix.

I care about my tittle because it makes me feel special.

Well see, you may not care or even know, but a persons title can be something that says how much time that member has been with Bungie.net the experience and knowledge gained, and even a small reward for their activity and rule abiding. For all that time, from Heroic to Legendary to Mythic, and all of the prefixes showing what they would have done, or even things they havent done in order to have received the title that they have. This is why I thinik it matter so much to people.

I don't care nearly as much about my title as I did when I first became Heroic about a year and a half ago. I think that a lot of new members have the mindset that an elevated title will give them the voice to be heard that they've been wanting since they've discovered the public forums. However, it becomes pretty apparent after a while that other members often only listen to the friends and familiar voices that they've seen over long periods of time, making the titles that they possess pretty forgettable.

You are right about that. I try to pay attention to everyone, but I have a specific group of people that will catch my eye most of the time. Member tittles don't effect anything in my eyes when it comes to noticing people.

Most Mythic and some Legendary members are well know though out the community there for they are trusted and people listen to there opinion more then say a normal member.

Yes, but do you think their titles are solely responsible for that, or is it a result of just being a helpful and friendly member over the years? I would have to argue that it is mainly the latter.

Would your opinion of a Mythic member, that you previously looked up to, drastically change if they were to be given a minor ban and removed of their title? If so, then I would have to say that your view of the title system is a bit too extreme.

  • 11.08.2009 10:46 PM PDT

I'm not saying I judge them by there title, if there title was removed due to a warning I would treat them the same and look at the individual the same.
Most people that have higher titles have been here for along time so they are more likely to be well know though out the community. Title is not a rank. It just shows the trust level with the member so if they have high trust rating people are more likely to listen to them over a member with low trust.
This isn't always the case tho.

I agree a lot with what you've been saying Talon. However I meant that in the eyes of most members an elevated title has some value in terms of recognition for being an active member who's played by the rules for however long. That said, I sure you knew that( just thought I'd word it that way again).

Indeed, having a certain title doesnt always mean they don't know what is going on within the community and all that. I am one of those people I think. That may not have a fairly significant title, but I do know what I am talking about, and I do know what is going on.

It's true. I lost my mythic title for a week not too long ago. That week was chock-full of care.

I'm sure it was like watching a very reserved, proud man walk through a spider web only to freak the -blam!- out. Afterward, he would look around, panicking to see if anyone had seen his true nature.

"Care" is a relative term. It's just something to talk about.

You've actually been on Bungie for 351 Days, and your title is not going up because your Post Per Day is "0.31 PPD". Usually mine's around 20 when I go up.

On another note: I've been seeing a lot of Legendary Members get demoted today, like Robby. It's weird, because they're active here.

Well I guess I better put some pants on.

I feel like I'm gonna break this thing!

I'm still a Legendary member, and my post count as of late has been low.

If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Noble at 8pm Pacific last night, just as predicted by Spudster.

Next stop, Heroic!

I became a legendary member (again) last night. Honestly despite what most theories posit, I don't think post count has as much of an influence on member titles as we think.

Yeah I have seen a few people go down to Heroic lately, I know they are active and post everyday too. It's weird.
